Actual happiness always looks pretty squalid in comparison with the over-compensations for misery.

The Koufu at Yew Tee Point closed down my favourite Hungry Jack stall but it was replaced with Fish & Chicks! Marvelous, because the store received many raved reviews and it was even featured on mstamchiak's food blog. Yay, it's time to try new food again!

(Whole Spring Chicken with Minted Yogurt)

$11.90 super worth it! I shared the food with my mummy and sister because they are so generous with their portions! The skin is crispy, yet the meat is tender. It kinds of get jelat towards the end, but nonetheless I think it is worth the price!

(Mentaiko Pasta with Grilled Mentaiko Salmon)

$10.90 for this bowl of pasta, and I'm sorry but it looks (and tastes) pathetic. Do not try their pasta, I repeat do not try their pasta. They are famous for their salted egg sauce, so perhaps I will try that in the future!

(Ripped from Wikipedia)

Also, I watched the movie Johnny English Strikes Again a few weeks back with Clement, and the movie didn't disappoint! The show was about Johnny English (played by Rowan Atkinson), a current geography teacher and retired agent who was reinstated for a mission. Many of us would have already known the actor from the 'Mr Bean' serial, but he is still a super 'joke' character in the Johnny English movie. The action comedy was so freaking hilarious, and I kept laughing and continually spill my food all over the cinema, LOL. I rate this show a 10/10, Clement and I love it so much!

(Ripped from CapitaLand.com)

By the way, I brought a burrito from Stuff''d into the cinema. It was my first time ordering from the eatery and I am quite shooked by its taste! It tasted so much nicer than subway, and it is definitely more filling (but slightly more expensive also, but it is so worth it)! Thanks Clement for the recommendation~

(Cheesecake Bingsu)

After the movie, we headed to Nunsongyee Korean Dessert Cafe for some bingsu! I was supposed to celebrate Clement's birthday, but we ended up ordering my favourite flavor - cheesecake bingsu - instead. LOL. #notsurewhois #birthdayboy

Happiness begins with your smile and let your smile change the world, my dear friend. Happy belated birthday Clement!

Have you ever been in love?
Like a lion and a mermaid?
Actually, I’m not an expert at playing with fire.
I try to avoid getting burnt.
There’s enough anxiety in my life.
I don’t want to add on more worries.

One day we will learn to love ourselves.

Time flies, and it was already Week 10 of school, which also meant that I still have three weeks more to go before I graduate (officially become jobless). T.T The grass is always greener on the other side, because right now I am dreading graduation. I hate having not plan my life at all. Arghs.

(NM4883D Groupmates)

Throwback to the summer break where happiness still exists. Finally met up with the groupmates for dinner at Din Tai Fung after so long. Two of them are already working, and it is soon my turn to join them yikes. They seemed to be enjoying work though, and I aspire to be like them LOL. Jiayous everyone, we can all do this!

(Beef Brisket Noodles)

I also met Hui Qi to eat Hong Kong Wanton Noodles for dinner at erm, Hong Kong Wonton Noodles. That is legit the name of the restaurant, and it is located at Plaza Singapura. LOL, I ordered the beef brisket which was supposed to taste nice but personally I don't really like wanton noodles so... And it also looked a little unappetizing hmm... T.T

(Roast pork and chicken)

Bukit Batok has a super delicious food stall selling roast pork and roast chicken, so my family has been visiting the hawker every two weeks? LOL, talk about humans being habitual creatures, we always go back to eating the same food we think is delicious.

(Black Soya Ice Cream)

I got a black soya ice cream from Mr Bean a few weeks ago. It was quite funny because after I bought it, there are 2-3 people who flocked over and asked me if it tasted nice. LOL, I guess people are naturally attracted to exotic stuff - I mean what are the chances you will see ice cream that is grey in color rights? Mr Bean should thank/pay me because I helped them to attract customers just by standing there and eating my ice cream. :D

(Wedges)

Also, waving goodbye to my pretty wedges. I decided to wear it out after so long but I guessed I didn't take care of it well enough because it gave way T.T I love this pair though!!

You know one thing about memory?
You don’t just keep the stuff in your head.
It’s all over your body.
One night I woke up with a pain on my shoulder
and I realised how much I missed
the weight of his head lying on it.

With midnight closing in, you take my hand as our shadows dance, with moonlight on your skin.

Mid Autumn Festival

Marking the end of the autumn harvest, the festival was traditionally held to give thanks to the gods. It is also the time of the year when the moon is at its brightest. The folktale has it that Chang'E drank the elixir of immortality in order to save her people from her husband, a merciless king. She then ascended to the moon, and ever since people has been worshipping her as a Moon Goddess.

(Sunset at Hort Park)

Met JH at Queenstown MRT before heading to Hort Park together. We timed ourselves so as to reach our destination at the right timing to see the sunset! Breathtaking, hehes. We saw a couple taking their wedding shots there as well. Damn sweet of them!

(Hiking in the midst)

(Henderson Waves Bridge)

Reached Henderson Waves Bridge after ~45 minutes of hiking. It was a nice feeling with the breeze caressing my face. We stopped there for quite some time, taking in the view. It was super therapeutic!

(The nicest toilet in Singapore)

(Reflection)

We continued hiking and finally reached Mount Faber, the place in Singapore which has the nicest washrooms! They were fully glass enclosed, so we get to see panoramic views of the Mount Faber hill. Unfortunately, it was dark when we reached so the view wasn't that fantastic. I recalled that we were able to spot cable cars in the day the last time I went!

(Iced Teh Cino)

Hiked down the Mount Faber hill in the dark, thankfully I have a iPhone with super bright flashlight to save us LOL. There were no bus services because it was a weekday, and the worst thing was that there wasn't any street lights either. Halp. Hehes, thanks JH for being such a great navigator and that we managed to walk out alive hahahaha!

We walked out from the exit facing Vivo City, and had dinner at a hawker center beside Vivo City. I finally get to eat my Char Kway Teow and carrot cake! I cried tears of happiness when I found that there was a drink stall which sells my favourite iced teh cino! It was horrible ever since NUS UTown changed food court vendor, and they no longer sell iced teh cino T.T

(Disney Tsum Tsum Lantern Installations)

Since we were already at Vivo City, we decided to drop by the 'Disney Tsum Tsum Mid-Autumn Celebration of Love campaign' (aka lantern installations) located at the rooftop level of the mall. It was quite crowded, but was quite worth it because the lantern installations was a sight to behold. They have many Tsum Tsum themed lanterns lighting up the night sky (and many kids as well)!

You could offer me the sun and the moon,
and I would still believe that
you gave me everything
when you gave your heart to me.

Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.

Saw this super cute quote by playwright Alfian Sa'at:

"HDB life: One takes the stairs and the elevators up
to be brought back down to Earth"

Reasons why I love to stay in HDB. :D Friendly neighbours and beautiful views (correction: used to have, because now they were rebuilding the secondary school near my house, and freaking hell the school is so tall now that it block my sunset view T.T).

(Minced Pork with Basil Leaves)

(Tom Yum Seafood Soup)

Tried a new restaurant Kinmoo with JJ! I'm back to Bugis again hahaha, LOL I realized I am forever heading there whenever I meet my friends for meals. This is the first time we are eating Thai together, hehes excited!

Sorry for being useless but I really cannot take spicy well - thanks for accommodating to my request of asking the kitchen to make it less spicy LOL! This is the very first time that I actually finished drinking all the tom yum soup HAHAHA. The spicy level was just nice for me. But guys, don't visit the restaurant. I have tried nicer Thai food at other places. Oops.

(Japanese hotpot)

(Meat lover)

Shabusai Buffet Lunch with the mummy! Japanese hotpots are the best; I love the shoyu hotpot base especially! Sadly there wasn't any student deals, but I would gladly pay to eat this LOL. We ordered 10 plates of meat for just the two of us >.< Worthwhile rights? Hahaha! I really enjoy days out with the mother because we always get to eat good food yesh!

Stuff your eyes with wonder, he said,
live as if you'd drop dead in ten seconds.
See the world.
It's more fantastic than any dreams made
or paid for in factories.

It was easier to be brave when you were someone else.

It was a productive week because I submitted my GEH1070 group project two weeks before the deadline! Thanks to my very efficient groupmate, ChuNing. Cheers! It was such a gruesome experience trying to print the report in UTown, because we had to install some driver into our laptops in order to send the print job to the printer, and after so much effort trying to install, we realized that the printer would not print in color. Whyyyyy. In the end we went back to Arts to print; but our tutorial was in UTown T.T

(Hot Tomato)

Treated the sister to lunch at Hot Tomato after her prelims. She told me that she did badly, so I guessed I can cheer her up with good food. :D #bestsisteraward I still love Hot Tomato because they have student deals, quite worth it luh!

(Eskimo's Coffee)

Back to Teafolia again for their Eskimo's Coffee. I had it once before and I quite like it, LOL. I still pretty much prefer coffee, even though their signature drinks are their fruit teas LOL! ,Perhaps next time I should try their Stirring Milk instead, it looks damn interesting and instaworthy?! I googled stirring milk because I have no idea what it means, and it literally means to stir well before drinking, hahahas!

(Crackers)

(Nasi Lemak)

(Beef Rendang)

(Ngoh Hiang)

(Sambal Petai)

(Dessert)

Headed to Suntec City with the family the other day, and we had a scrumptious meal at Grandma's. It was really 'just the way Grandma used to cook it'. They have a lot of Peranakan dishes, such as otak-otak, which looks good but I didn't order hahaha! The food is generally on the expensive side, but then again there are no cheap food over at Suntec City unless we opted for fast food. Oh well.

We were actually spoilt for choice with the wide array of wholesome dishes available at the restaurant. They serve quite quality food, hence the price. I had a great experience there - the food is great, the ambience is great, the service is great. (: Yay!

I think happiness
is to say that you are happy
and to trust yourself
that you have said
the right word.

Baby, I got the keys to the universe so stay with me.

Had lunch at IKEA with Vivian Phang after classes and we ordered our favourite salmon, and of course their iconic dish, the Swedish meatballs!

(A dose of IKEA goodness)

After two hours of lunch, we finally parted ways and I took a long bus journey to home (Clementi, to be precise. There's no direct bus straight to my house sighs). It was a pretty chill journey home, and I took this time to stone and clear my mind. Then, I decided to stop by the Community Centre on the way to grab a cuppa of Starbucks to reward myself for a long day at work.

(Starbucks)

What's better than having Starbucks to end the day!

Stars in your multitudes
Scarce to be counted
Filling the darkness
With order and light
You are the sentinels
Silent and sure
Keeping watch in the night

For last year's words belong to last year's language, and next year's words await another voice.

I'm seriously very proud of my sister HAHA. Five years ago, I received the AJ Contribution Award. Four years later, my sister received the AJ Outstanding Contribution Award. LOL, she is always one level higher than me. Congratulations! No monetary benefits, but it is the recognition that keeps us going uh! :D Thanks AJ for shaping me into who I am today.

(Homemade Pancakes)

The sun is rising from the West because the sister actually woke up early in the morning to make pancakes for the family! We managed to dig out leftover McDonalds maple syrup from the fridge, which is fantastic because they go well with the pancakes. Thank you for the 爱心早餐, they are yummy! I hope you wake up early everyday to cook for me. LOL. #notsurewhoisthe #oldersister

(Apple Flavour Burst)

Once again, Singapore's merciless weather sent me to McDonalds to get their ice cream. LOL, this time I got my all-time favourite, apple flavour burst! :D Cheap thrills, I really like McDonalds ice cream because they are cheap and taste okay!

And I'm back to my quest of trying out new restaurants again! Last Monday, I went on a solo date with mummy. We headed to Legendary Hong Kong (九如烧腊), located at Jurong Point, for some Hong Kong cuisine. We have been aiming this restaurant for the longest time possible, because the queues there are never-ending!

(Bolo Bun, Watercress Juice and Iced Yuan Yang)

(Beef Noodles)

(Egg Pudding)

10/10 will not recommend. LOL, I don't even know why are there long queues?! The food tasted like something I can cook myself (I don't even cook T.T). What a disappointment.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

There are all kinds of love in this world but never the same love twice.

I had my NM4102 midterm last Friday and it was ridiculously hard?! The people who took the exam on Wednesday said that the way the professor phrased his questions was very weird, and indeed I was also confused when I took the exam myself. He kept asking us to identify variables but I cannot seemed to identify all of them T.T There are a lot of application questions as well, but professor you didn't train me well enough for me to answer those questions confidently x.x

(Chocolate Muffin)

Had some time to spare before meeting my friend, so I got this fantastic muffin from Hanis Cafe and Bakery located at the National Library building, and it was super duper delicious! It wasn't that expensive either, and the cafe's ambience is relaxed and pleasant.

On a separate occasion, I went IMM with my family and we had dinner at the Seoul Garden Hotpot, which offers an array of Korean dishes from hotpot to bibimbaps and jjigae sets! I miss Korea so much, the food and the shopping especially! Someone sponsor my air ticket please!

(Iced Ginseng Wolfberry)

(Japchae and Ginseng Chicken)

(Chicken Spicy Soon Dubu Hot Pot)

(Seafood Pancake)

The food was mediocre, and it didn't leave any memorable impression. The prices were on the high side as well. Hmm... 5/10 wouldn't head back again. LOL.

My family love going IMM because they have many outlet stores there. And guess what, my mummy just walked into Sketchers and bought a new pair of sport shoes even though her current one was just a year's old. Wth.

And when they dare to tell you
all the things you cannot be,
you smile and tell them
"I am both war and woman
and you cannot stop me"

Love is a losing game, one I wish I never played.

A module that I have been taking in school this semester requires us to visit the TCM clinic for our group project. We are supposed to document down our consultation experiences with the TCM practitioners and submit them in our report. I thought it was quite an interesting project because I have never been to a TCM before and this will really be an eye-opener!

But it was a really bad experience. LOL, we were kicked out by the TCM practitioner after my groupmate and I told him that we were students doing a report on the consultation visit, and that we need to take pictures to include them in our report. We wasted our money because we have to pay at the registration counter before heading into the consultation room, and he didn't even give us any treatment. T.T

Went back to re-register at the counter, and we requested for another TCM practitioner. They freaking charged us again for consultation fees >.< Professor, why didn't you liaise with the TCM clinic properly huh. Thankfully the second consultation went well, and the physician was very patient with us! He was very understanding when we said that we are students, and he even complimented us for our good Mandarin ROFL. Indeed, my eventful first TCM visit was quite an experience!

(Coolman Yogurt)

Cries, Lot 1 shopping mall closed down the fruit juice stall which I frequent, and opened this Coolman Yogurt stall instead. T.T They do sell fruit juice as well, but it comes with a hefty price tag. Thankfully they do have promotions every now and then, and that day I decided to try their yogurt. It is slightly different from Yole, but still taste delicious nonetheless! :D

Also recently I went for dinner with the family at a hawker center near JCube! Chanced upon this tzechar stall, and saw that they sell interesting food like lemongrass noodles?! Didn't take notice of the name of the stall, oops!

(Coffee Pork Ribs)

(Salted Egg Chicken)

(Lemongrass Noodles)

(Vegetables)

Sighs, I'm so tired recently. LOL, not that I should be complaining, but these days I cannot help but feel useless because I have been spending my days watching variety shows instead of doing something more productive like internships? Life really doesn't go the way we want. >.<

The monsters were never under my bed.
Because the monsters were inside my head.
I fear no monsters, for no monsters I see.
Because all this time, the monster has been me.

No words, just yours. And love and peace tugging at my heartstrings.

Food hunting at 313 Somerset today!

(Beef Don)

Brought my mum over to Gyu Nami, a Japanese restaurant, to try their Signature Wagyu Roast Beef Don! They took ten millions years to serve the dish even though I was their first customer, and I was getting quite impatient to be honest. Hahaha, but okay good things always come to those who waited, and I guess I tasted the most delicious beef don that I have ever tasted!

They really took much effort in the preparation of this. And I read online, they actually have a quota for the number of bowls they sell each day. Hmm, the price was affordable at $10 (regular) if you are talking about dining in town area. Will visit again!

(Say Chiizu)

P.S. The portion of the beef don was quite small, so we were feeling hungry again by mid-afternoon. Came across Say Chiizu, and finally had the chance to try this famous Bangkok's Hokkaido-style stretchy cheese toast! It really does live up to its hype, with the buttery toast sandwiched between molten cheese that stretches on forever. Super instagram-mable hahaha!

(Free fruit juice)

BOOST JUICE WHAT’S YOUR NAME GAME

Got myself a cup of free fruit smoothie from BOOST! All I need to do is to register my name on their website to stand a chance to win a free drink! :D Free drinks always taste good LOL! However, my conclusion is that 'the more the merrier doesn't always hold true'. I ordered the most expensive drink off their menu for the free drink (i.e. they blended more fruits), but it tasted too much and not that nice! T.T

Maybe we're perfect strangers.
Maybe it's not forever.
Maybe the night will change us.
Maybe we'll stay together.
Maybe we'll walk away.
Maybe we're realize we're only human.
Because we don't need no reason.

Thursday, October 4, 2018

Dear old friends, I miss all the laughs we used to have.

Biannual meetup with Kenneth and Jordon, and guessed who got lost in Orchard again? Hahahas! Went to Machida Shoten, which is located at Japan Food Town @ Wisma Atriafor dinner as recommended by Kenneth; wth I swear he has an obsession with ramen because I am forever eating ramen whenever I meet him??

(Ramen)

This restaurant is famous for its 'iekei ramen', which basically meant “house-type” from the kanji “家”. They allow you to customise your ramen bowl, so you are able to chose your specified softness/hardness of noodles, the oil level etc. Yay!

I ordered the Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen, which is a mixture of soya sauce and pork bone broth. They have other flavors as well, such as miso soup base, but personally I prefer my ramen soup to tend towards salty for a more flavorful taste!

And the best thing? Wednesdays are ladies' night! We weren't aware of this, and the waitress did not clarify - she just asked me what drinks I want, and when I reply iced water, she gave me the weird look before asking me to choose between green tea/carbonated drinks. LOL, we needed to probe her to know that it's actually Ladies Night geeez! I ended up getting a free drink and a free scoop of ice cream, yipee! :D #cheapthrills

We talked about everything under the sun like girls and dating, and ohgosh not sure if Kenneth was drunk on iced water or what, he was super nonsensical that day LOL. And he simply can't shut his mouth and just continued talking throughout. But okay, he was super funny HAHAHA.

(Yoogane)

(When it is cooked)

On a separate occasion, Amanda and I went for a public networking session at school and it was quite useless in my opinion. We were still thinking why were there so little people around, but we quickly knew the reason. LOL, have always feel that networking sessions are pretty useless because I am 'unmemorable' so x.x

After which, we headed to Yoogane, Westgate, for lunch because they have lunch promotions! ~$15 after taxes for unlimited amount of toppings - it is quite a good deal to me! I think we sat there for close to 2-3 hours just stuffing ourselves until it was dinner time and we decided to leave LOL. It has been a long time since we went out to eat something nice, so I really appreciate the time spent together! *virtual hugs*

Listen to me girl,
you have castles inside your bones,
and coronets in your heart.
If he threatens you with battle,
you raise him a whole war,
the last time I checked,
Queens cower before no man.
