That's what the Earth is, after all: an endless battle of contrasting memories.

My Thoughts on Writing a Blog

(Ripped from buzzghana.com)

Many people have asked me why do I want to write out my entire personal life on a blog to show people. I guess I shall answer this here.

I often reply them that I write a blog for memories' sake. I recorded every single detail of my life, because it allows me to go back and re-experienced the same emotions I felt when I am experiencing the incident at that point in time. Whether it is happiness, love, or even hatred, sorrow, frustration and sadness, they are all emotions that allow me to reflect upon myself. Human's memory capacity is limited in some way or another, and I hope to write my story in this little space of mine, to remind me of the various happenings that I have been going through. It is as though I am reading my life story as a storybook.

Writing a blog allows me to express myself freely. I can write without holding any qualms, without anyone controlling me or telling me what to write about. In this personal (or not) space of mine, I do not have to care about people's feelings, whether or not my posts make any sense, or the zillions of grammar mistakes I make, because ultimately this is a space that belongs to me. There is nobody to judge me (I guess people wouldn't comment on my posts except for Amanda) because there is still the existence of a certain extent of anonymity.

When I blog, I am typing out my thoughts and feelings, and this enables me to reflect on my actions, whether I have done things correctly or wrongly. Sometimes, writing in a third person's perspective permits me to take a step back and view the entire situation objectively. It makes me more clear-minded and organised to think about what are the next steps to be taken.

It's as though why people upload their photos on various social media platform, such as Facebook and Instagram, or even write on platforms like Dayre. I take blogging as an informal way of writing, as a form of expression. I am a foodie, which explains why many of my posts are featuring food that I have eaten. I enjoy sharing reviews on food, because I have also gained a lot when I research for new eating places to visit, and I felt the need to give back to the community.

Most importantly, I guess for now, writing is still the most effective form of relieving stress.

She's so lucky, she's a star.
But she cries, cries and cries
In her lonely heart, thinking:
If there's nothing missing in my life,
Then why do these tears come at night.

For the dead and the broken.

Hong Kong Overseas Trip
19 May 2016 to 24 May 2016
Overseas Trip with Friends

(Hongkong's landscape)

As I stepped on board the plane back to Singapore, I was filled with mixed feelings. On one hand, I yearn to hurry back to a familiar surrounding, to run into the warm embrace of my motherland. On the other hand, I could not help but feel a tinge of longing for the city I visited.

Hong Kong is undoubtedly beautiful with her incredible views and food highly pleasant to my taste buds. The people, the architecture, the sights and sounds. I guess I will miss this cityscape very much.

As I take in the impressive scenery and breathe in the beautiful landscapes, I feel moments of relief. Lightweight, as if I'm rid of all the troubles and burdens that I have been carrying on my shoulders all this while. This short trip has indeed provided me a brief respite from the stress I faced back in Singapore.

Even though I dislike the complicated streets of Hong Kong which makes travelling cumbersome from having to consult the GPS,  I guess in some way or so, it invokes the inquisitive self in me and makes me crave exploring the city. The six days in Hong Kong has been a fulfilling one, albeit being short. As much as I would like to interact with the people to gain a deeper understanding of the city, my poor command of the Cantonese language forbids me from doing so, and this is a pity. However, even with mere observation, I think I gained more insights about the city's rich culture and the way of living. I am extremely grateful that I decided to embark on this little travel trip that bestows me with such an amazing experience.

My travel companions are nothing short of splendid as we take care of one another, ensuring each other's safety and well-being. No amount of words can describe how thankful I am for their presence.

Thank you, the land of dimsum. You left me wonderful memories that are deeply imprinted at the back of my mind.

But for now, I am glad to set foot in Singapore. This trip will definitely be one that I will hold fond memories of but, home is still the best.

And because they say Hong Kong is a eating-and-shopping paradise (pictures are not in order):

(First breakfast in HongKong)

(Takeaway lunch)

(Singapore's Blackball tastes nicer)

(Cheesy maggie with pork cutlet)

(Ham and egg sandwich)

(Milktea)

(Cold Noodles)

(Cheap breakfast set meal)

(Tim Ho Wan with horrendously long queue, so we takeaway)

(Jumbo-sized mango sago, with mochi and carrot cake dipped in xo sauce)

(Scramble egg sandwich from Australian Diary which taste heavenly)

(Curry fishballs)

(Stinky tofu)

(First time with intestines)

(Blueberry Cheesecake)

(Macaroni set at Australian Diary)

(Milk and almond pudding)

(Roasted Goose noodles, but they give me all bones, cries)

(Seafood cheese baked rice that taste like mui fan)

I guess it's time for me to rid those extra pounds I gained from the trip.

Can you see me,

Understanding all I wanted to hear.

Mosaics are made from broken pieces but they're still works of art.

I can never get enough of Western food. Hahahahas! I'm such a glutton, forever eating and eating non-stop x.x Geeez, getting fat at an exponential rate. Noooooo! D:

Collins' Western Food @ Braddell

Found this gem whilst we are hunting for Botak Jones. However, to our dismay, Botak Jones (Braddell branch) stopped operating. Ahhh, I tried to google but to no avail. #googlesucks Ended up at this Collins' place because it seems legit and it also sells Western food LOLOL!

(Daddy's pork ribs)

This plate of yummies is the bomb omg. It is reasonably priced at $15.90 for the entire ribs, and it also comes with waffle fries, corn and salad. LOL! (: This is the real deal wooo!

(My aglio olio with mushrooms and chicken slices)

Okay unfortunately, I have to fail this dish because it is way tooo salty. T.T Salt is free mehs?! But the portion is just nice and the mushrooms and chicken slices complement each other well, but the aglio olio is really, really too salty ahh T.T

(Sister's pork chop with aglio olio)

And yes, once again the aglio olio here is super salty. T.T The pork chop is delicious but err as my sister is finishing it, we noticed some reddish parts in the meat, which is evident that the pork is not well cooked. T.T This is pork, not steak ahhhh. The sausage is fine though, and I like the salad too!

(Mum's chicken chop with aglio olio, topped with tiger prawns)

This mouth-watering dish looks splendid because of the many colours on the plate which makes it so beautiful! Hahahahas, the tiger prawns are damn niceee and I stole one from my mummy oops. The chicken chop is also well-cooked this time, but the aglio olio remains salty. Hmmmm.

So lesson learnt: just grab the pork ribs. It is a hit. Hahahas! :DDD

From within the light a greater darkness.
Sleepless nights and tortured days.

Life will be better in spring.

Missing Singapore's food after being in Hong Kong for so many days. Hahahas! :D Shall blog about my first overseas experience with friends after I'm done unpacking my luggage and collating the pictures. Everything is in a mess now, oops! All I want is sleep. So exhausted x.x But thanks, twas a happy trip! Thanks pals! :DD Feeling blessed.

(Craving for Western food)

Hong Kong's western food doesn't really suit my tastebuds, especially when they dump the meat into my bowl of soup and it becomes really soggy x.x Hahahas! So I'm back to my favourite cheap cheap Western food @ YewTee's Koufu. It is really worth it LOL! $10 for a plate of chicken chop, aglio olio, cheese fries, coleslaw and soup-of-the-day! And it is quite filling! :D Yay great dinner with the fambam after landing in Singapore hahahahas!

(Meesiam)

Is it just me or Hong Kong doesn't serve many spicy/sour food? I never had any during my trip, :3 So I had meesiam at Bread Talk Cafe today for lunch. Hehehes, need to satisfy my cravings LOL. The bowl of noodles looks damn unappetising, but it actually tastes fine. The soup is sour enough. I like sour. :DD

(Frozen pizza)

When your mummy is too lazy to cook, we had to eat pizza for dinner. Parents went to the NTUC warehouse recently and got the pizzas at a good deal, $20 for 3 regular-sized pizzas. The pizza taste legit LOL! Yumz.

By the way, just to add on, I think finding food in HongKong is like finding a needle in a haystack x.x Ahhh, the streets in HongKong are so confusing with all the twists and turns and even diagonal roads. We had to walk great miles to find food. To be honest, after travelling to HongKong with my friends, I really learnt to appreciate Singapore (and my family) more. Because Singapore is orderly whilst HongKong is messy, which makes it relatively quite easy to find the shops in Singapore. Besides, I guess travelling without my family means I need to learn to carry all my shopping bags myself. Ahh how did my parents survive our shopping nonsense last time omg.

A million feeling,

A thousand thoughts,
A hundred memories.

One person.

Grab my hands. Fly with me.

(Ripped from Tumblr)

"Dawn turns to day,
As stars are dispersed;
Wherever I lay,
I think of you first.

The sun has arisen,
The sky, a sad blue.
I quietly listen ---
The wind sings of you.

The thoughts we each keep,
That are closest to heart,
We think as we sleep ---
And you're always my last."

Everything will fall into place, just be patient.

Last post before I head for my trip, hehes, excited much! :D Many things had went wrong prior to my trip, but I guess everything will be fine in the end, rights? Nonetheless, I am still excited for my trip. Hahahas, so excited that I even spent a goddamn 1h painting my horrendous nails. #noskills #butvain #whattodo :DDD

(Ripped from theflightticket.tumblr.com)

So I went to play table tennis with JJ last Wednesday. Viola! I guess it has been a long time since I touched sports, and geeez my arms and legs are really aching like nobody's business. T.T So weak omg. It was actually a horrible day initially. When we stepped out from the MRT, it started pouring heavily. We crossed the overhead bridge to reach the busstop but the rain was so heavy that my shoes are all wet. Yikes!

(Ripped from wanderlusterlee.com)

After boarding the bus, we forgot to press the bell. Even though we stood up and walk to the door, the bus driver just zoomed off our stop T.T Cries. We decided to alight at the next stop. But well, we sure are poor decision makers. Alighted at this ulu busstop near the expressway, and there are no traffic lights to cross, and I don't want to jay walk because the cars are really going damn fast. T.T

Took another bus down to AJ (mygawd, AJ) before crossing the road to take another bus back to our destination. Arghs. When we can reach the venue within 5 minutes, we went through so much trouble and only reached 35 minutes later. It was raining cats and dogs, mind you. Poor us, we were drenched from head to toe. T.T

No wonder I caught a flu >.<

But ohwell, afterwards we went Chong Pang for good food :DDD Shared popiah, hokkien mee, char kway teow, satay and sugar cane (that amount of food we eat omg). I actually took a video of the food but I forgot to save it arghs. T.T Hahahas, ordered so much but total bill only amounts to $18.50. Blessed. And he really xiao sweet, because he baked some cookies and gave me some (first time receiving cookies from guys omg hahahas)!

Walked home in the dark and spotted plenty of cockroaches at my void deck. Cockroaches are the bane of my life. T.T

~

Woke up early to attend Peggy/Yinton's graduation ceremony the next day. Geeez, we are supposed to reach the convention center at 9am, but guess who was late? I reached the MRT station at 9am sharp (okay I was late also), but Vivian and her boyf be like #yolokids, and we ended up reaching our destination only at 10am. Hahahas! But ohwell, the presentation of the certificates are a little boring, and Vivian and I just kept fooling around in our seats. Hahahas! :D

(Mandatory shot)

Loitered around the center waiting for Peggy to finish taking her photos with everyone. Had the buffet reception for lunch #cheapthrills because it is technically free for us LOLOL! The entire time it was just Vian and Wenjun running around like little kids, and me judging them like:

(Ripped from realitytvgifs.tumblr.com)

Hahahas, took a bus over to Jurong for a bingsu session, and we had my favourite Chocolate Banana bingsu! Chocolate banana hooray! Hahahas! :DDD Then we met up with Peiyu, grabbed our Sharetea milkteas, before heading to Teoheng for a singing session. :DDD Day ended well because I had fun meeting up with old friends, like friends whom I haven't met in ages (since Secondary school...?) LOLOL! :DD

(Is it my graduation?)

Saw many, many, many flowers over there. Hahahas, envious. I also want flowers! Kidding, I prefer something more practical. LOLOL, :D

(Because I am greedy and one bouquet is not enough)

I am sick of going out already. Seriously broke, and tired. T.T I really need money omg. Does anyone has lobang for jobs?!?

Can you see me,
I'm still standing here.
Everlasting since I've seen your tears.
One lonely soul.
One empty soul.

Found the truth beneath your lies, and true love never has to hide.

An overdose of curry.

I had Monster Curry for lunch with my parents after my dentist appointment. And this is the first time I ordered the combo meal so that the three of us could share it, and guess what? The serving is really enormous?! Okay luh, worth the price ~$25.

(It is not bad!)

But the chicken cutlet is a bit hard for my braces teeth and I was practically battling a lone war with the cutlet throughout the entire lunch. Tsktsk. T.T Sighs. Sometimes I wish I have perfect teeth so I didn't have to put on braces, because braces is really damn troublesome and you have to say sayonara to all the 'hard' food that you used to love. :3

(Vietnam coffee)

Grabbed a cuppa of Vietnam coffee from Mr Bean because I have coupons. Hahahahas! (: I really love this drink because they use soya milk to make the coffee which makes it even more yummy!

Second meal of curry for the day at Curry Times @ Novena Square. Hahahahas! Recently in love with curry which clearly explains my pimple-face T.T Sighs.

(Ordered coffee chendol and bandung with chia seeds)

See the old school biscuits? Hahahas! My parents love them so much that they kept making me and my sister walk over to the counter to grab a bowl for them. T.T Btw, the bandung damn sweet that I have to mix in my own mineral water to even out the sweetness hmmm.

(Curry Chicken)

Yumz yumz. They are quite generous with 7 pieces of chicken and 5 pieces of potatoes (yes I counted). Hahahahas! (: Curry is good! #Ilovecurry

(Ngoh Hiang)

The ngoh hiang also taste fantastic but the dish is quite expensive arhs?! Three rolls cost close to $10?! What a ripped-off. Cries.

(Cold tofu with century egg and my favourite oyster-sauce kailan)

Hmm, the cold tofu is an innovative dish but I wouldn't consider it to be delicious. It just taste okay okay... But kailan never fails! :D Damn scrumptious hehehes.

(Bowls of dessert)

Glutinous rice and yam desserts to fill our tummy. Hahahahas! But I guess I'm never heading back again. But I always see long queues at the branch at Jurong East. Why?!

Anyways, damn excited for my Hong Kong trip because it is my virgin overseas trip with friends! Yay! :DD Past few days of planning of itinerary and packing of luggage are enough to kill me, but it will all be worth it! P.S. I hope I get a job soon, sighs. So sick of all these jobhunting. Arghs.
