Behind the smile lies the pain from a thousand cuts and bruises.

There are many things to be thankful for. This week, we finally launched our Facebook page for the campaign. It was so horrible trying to rush out everything so that we can launch on time. It doesn't help that we already started planning last semester because everything went haywire. Suddenly we were met with so many challenges. Can everyone just please make things easier for us? Sighs.

(Glimpse of our campaign's Facebook page)

Please like, follow and share our Facebook page if you haven't! http://facebook.com/take3fightHPV Please support because it is a graded module for me LOLOL. By the way, we are looking for sponsors for our campaign. If you happen to know anyone who might be interested in sponsoring us, please let me know! Thanks in advance! :D

(Souvenirs from Amanda)

Thanks for bringing back part of Canada and Hong Kong! :D Super love the bookmark and the lip balms! The maple biscuits look and taste very nice also! Marketing technique: the biscuits are in the shape of maple leaves, and they are filled with maple syrup. LOL! 10/10 points.

Also, I finally found something to look forward to during Investor Relations classes. It is a damn boring module, but I found good friends whom I can click with. I even found a buddy to go home with. Thanks Max. Hahaha! I just hope that I don't end up tanking the bell curve, because it's really hard when you don't have finance background sighs. P.S. I just spent some time trying to find a company to write for my individual assignment. LOL, I didn't know I had to submit the company's name by 2359 tonight. #lousy My groupmates posted on the groupchat, but I thought it was a group project LOL. I don't know what I am doing in class either.

Oh I also did my first ever presentation in SMU last week. It went so horribly screwed because our experiment results were skewed. And I wonder why the class doesn't agree with our viewpoints?!! Okay maybe I chose all the wrong examples. But still... I feel so bad, and the audience were so mean omg. Okay, this is reality. #acceptfate

(Japanese food for dinner)

Met up with JJ last week for movie then dinner at Barashi Tei! I didn't know there was this place in Dhoby Ghaut. You had to walk further down from POMO. I love it because there were no queues and I was super famished. Taste wise okay, I guess everything taste nice when you are hungry. LOL.

I was the ocean, you wanted rivers. I was the moon, you chased the stars.

Definitely not a movie fan, because I prefer dramas and variety shows anytime. However, I have watched five movies for the past two months. LOL T.T What an achievement. Shall do a short review for each movie. Some of them are not showing in the threatres anymore, so if you are interested, can go stream online or something :D Cheers!

(Insidious)

Watched this last Wednesday with JJ. It was not a very nice movie because it's not scary enough, and the plot is quite underdeveloped. Perhaps watching it at late night can add to the scary factor hahahaha! (: I rate this 7/10.

(Pitch Perfect 3)

This is the worst movie ever LOL. The sister was harping on how nice Pitch Perfect 1&2 was, so she dragged my mother and I along. I regretted not checking reviews before I agreed to watch. LOL. It was so boring, I totally prefer High School Music anytime. The songs weren't that nice either. Maybe I should have watched The Greatest Showman instead zzz. I rate this 5/10.

(Murder on the Orient Express)

I love this movie even though the ending was a bit tacky! Hahaha, this really piqued my passion in psychology all over again. LOL, it is mystery movie - a detective is supposed to find the murderer. Throughout the entire movie, I just kept thinking and trying to crack the case myself. But the ending was quite xxx. Thanks Vivian Phang for jio-ing! No regrets. (: I rate this 8/10.

(Star Wars)

Not a fan of this, but Hui Qi wanted to watch, so I just tagged along. The actions and graphics are really superb! My eyes were glued to the screen, and I finally understand the entire Star Wars series slightly better. I just remembered last semester, I had a professor who is a fan of movies and films, so he kept giving examples from famous films like Star Wars x.x Back then, I'm just lost. So lost. T.T I rate this movie 9/10.

(Ah Boys to Men 4)

I'm just a sucker for Jack Neo's movies. It was really, really damn funny. It really gets to me, I felt a sense of identity. For Singaporeans out there, I really think you should watch it. It is like a movie specially made for Singaporeans. (: I rate this 10/10.

Yay, I came to the end of my movie review. I realized all of them are of different genres. Hahahaha! From horror, to musical, to mystery, to action and comedy. :D I hope you find something of interest to you!

Burned on the water.

But darling, just kiss me slow. Your heart is all I own.

Back at Saizeriya for dinner to celebrate Moehan's birthday! (: It was a super simple birthday celebration with no cake LOL But okay we were not that heartless, we bought presents for him luh. It felt great to be hanging out with the JC clique - Moehan, Weina and Amanda - once again. Hahaha our conversations were never ending (:

(Black Pepper Chicken Spaghetti)

(Matcha Bingsu)

Stepped back into the cheap bingsu place located at JCube. Everything is still the same except that it is no longer as cheap? LOL, I think they raised prices. T.T In this case, I rather eat bingsu from other bingsu parlours, because it is not even nice. Geeez!

On a separate occasaion, I went all the way to Marina Square for dinner with the family. Settled on Rong Hua Bak Kut Teh cause it was one of the cheaper food in the vicinity LOL. Bak Kut Teh is a dish loved by most Singaporeans. It is traditionally prepared by boiling pork ribs, pepper and other herbs for long hours. I love eating this during cold weather because it really helps to warm the tummy!

(Yummy!)

(Pork liver that only my mama loves)

(I always take a liking to the vegetables sold in Bak Kut Teh restaurants)

(Pig Trotters)

(Prawn Rolls?)

(You Tiao)

There are many famous Bak Kut Teh stores in Singapore. This is my first time at Rong Hua, and even though I think it still taste great, I feel that there are better bak kut teh restaurants out there, such as Song Fa and Old Street! This is my personal preference! What do y'all think?

So you think you can tell
Heaven from hell, blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Spend time with yourself. It'll be your greatest gift to yourself.

Another week at SMU, another episode of embarrassing moment. LOL, this time round I forgot to keep my namecard and left it on the table for a good whole 4 hours. I believe there's a next class, and LOL I didn't notice I left it there until I need it again for my next lesson. Blur yanqi strikes again hmmm.

Anyways, allow me to rant a bit. I was so, so freaking tired today. It was just Week 1 at NUS, but it seemed like Week 4 already wth. I already started my campaign project two weeks ago. And it was so terrible - we didn't expect to face so many challenges. I really feel like dropping the module (why the fck did I overload somemore). Sighs. Sometimes I realised I really like to dig my own grave.

It was exceptionally tiring because I had to run around so many places, between SMU and NUS especially. I purposely arranged it such that I only need to attend lessons at one school at one place. But how come I still need to travel between the two schools ah?!!

And I'm suppose to only have three days of school this week. But how come I ended up needing to return to school for six days this week?!? Arghs. I cannot deal.

(Xiao Long Bao)

(Zha Jiang Mian)

(Fried Rice)

(Dumplings)

(Red bean pancakes)

Throwback to dinner at Paradise Dynasty the other day. Ahh my favourite xiao long baos. Just recalled that during my Taiwan trip, I went to their main Ding Tai Fung for dinner and the queue was freaking insane. Guess who waited 2.5h for her turn?? Lucky there was other food places nearby, so we went for more eating during the 2.5h. LOLOL!! No wonder I come back so fat.

Be someone's sunshine when their skies are grey.

I have been drafting this post for the longest, but I lack the motivation to continue on. LOL, sorry this came one month late. Procrastination at its best. LOL!

Musings on the past year.

(Ripped from Tumblr)

Looking back at 2017, I experienced a lot of ups and downs. I guess these experiences, be it good or bad, enable me to learn from mistakes. And I hope that by reflecting on the past year, it will help me organise my thoughts, and plan for 2018.

2017 was a special year to me because it was the year where I finally turned twenty-one. It was the start of adulthood, but I feel that I wasn't ready for it. Turning twenty-one comes with more responsibilities whereby everyone have higher expectations of you. It also means that graduation is nearing, and I'm so not looking forward to being trapped in the work cycle.

1. Learn to be more open-minded. Embrace new opportunities.

If it wasn't because I was unable to secure a slot for overseas semester exchange, I wouldn't have consider going South Korea for summer school.

I wouldn't have meet amazing people like Clement and Lianjie, who really are my good buddies for the trip. I wouldn't have gotten to know nice and friendly people like Regine and Jiashu. I wouldn't have gotten closer to Vivian. I wouldn't have the opportunity to travel with Huiqi and Xiaofang. I wouldn't have open up and make new friends if I didn't attend lessons alone.

I wouldn't have the chance to explore the city I love. I wouldn't have gained more independence. I wouldn't have learnt time management and work-life balance. I wouldn't have understand myself better.

(Travelogue Day #1)

(Travelogue Day #2)

Check out the vlogs that I have done for my Korea exchange if you haven't! I am still in the midst of editing the other videos (but I'm starting to get very busy already, so it might take a few more weeks to upload the next video LOL). T.T Very sorry!

2. Don't dwell on the past, because there's no use crying over spilled milk. As the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens.

I have encountered both pleasant and unpleasant moments during my internships. Let's keep the good, and learn from the bad.

(My bosses and colleagues)

I did my first ever internship with the SPF. Despite being just a short stint, I'm glad to have embarked on this internship because I really think that I learned a lot. These practical hands-on experiences are nothing like the theoretical work I learnt from the textbooks. The most importantly, I have nice bosses and nice colleagues. I'm grateful to have known all my fellow interns. It was a big group - there's like close to ten of us. But I love every single one of them because we are so closely-knitted. (: I'm thankful for them for letting me experience this love.

(We are so stupid)

The other short stint... Let's put it this way, it made me learnt the harsh reality of the world in a painful way.

3. Don't be afraid. Step out of your comfort zone, and start doing things that you love.

I am glad that I have the chance to take up this individual videography project with a professor. It was absolutely voluntary (read: unpaid), but it gives me experience and serves as a learning point for me. It was filming for a Kyogen, which is a traditional Japanese performance. I didn't expect myself to enjoy it, but the entire time I was just trying to control my laughter because I was holding onto the video camera and I didn't want the footage to be shaky LOL. Thank you Ms Tan for giving me this great opportunity!

(The Kyogen performance that I was filming)

(What are the chances that you get to drink with professors? I'm so shooked that night!)

Earlier in the year, I joined the CBAC competition with Yanlin again. It was somewhat our yearly tradition? Hahaha! It was this cool competition where we role played as detectives to try to solve cases (puzzles). I like games like that! Even though we weren't selected to proceed to the next round, I'm still glad to try my hands on this. (: Because of this competition, we became closer so I asked her to take CP2201 module with me last semester. Hahaha!

I love it the fact that she was very spontaneous when I asked her to join me for the hackerschool programme whereby we learn html. I had learnt it earlier for my previous module, but I thought that I needed a refresher course. It was damn fun, and I learnt new 'tricks' as well. Hahaha! (: Hope that there will be more of these courses that we can attend together in 2018.

4. Learning never stops. Knowledge is infinite.

A new skill learnt. I love doing vlogs. So I decided to take a videography module last semester in a bid to improve my video editing skills. I'm glad that I did so, despite everyone saying that it will be a tough module. I guess if you have the passion in doing something, it will prevail over everything else.

You can check out the films that my group did for the module below. Please note that they are supposed to be informative and serious, not meant to be funny!

(Voxpop: Are you proficient in Internet Slangs?)

(News Featurette: Professional Gaming - A viable career option?)

(Documentary: Face of the Day Campaign)

I also gained more real work experiences, because we had to work closely with a client for one of our modules. I really love these kind of modules, because it gives me the experience to equip myself for the working world. I'm ready to take on the world, yeah!

5. Healthy living. Exercise more to keep fit.

For those who have known me long enough, you should know that I am some lazy ass who don't exercise at all. I find joy in sitting down and watching my dramas and being a crouch potato. I really hate being outdoors, or anywhere under the sun.

However, after a few health scares last year, I decided to be more healthy and exercise more frequently. LOL. I am a changed person, really! I treked, I played table tennis, I even gymed. LOL.

(Chestnut Nature Reserve)

(Dairy Farm Nature Reserve)

I explored a few of the newer nature reserves in Singapore. There are still a couple of new places which I haven't been to, so perhaps my new year resolution could be to comb finish all the greens in Singapore? LOL!

I shall stop here because I cannot think of any other things to write. Come to think of it, my 2017 wasn't that eventful also? LOL, I'm just glad to be alive and kicking.

Dear self,
2018 is going to be your year.
So dust yourself off and get started.
Love, me.

Thursday, January 11, 2018

I have been bathed in your depth of love, but now I drown in my sea of thoughts.

(Ahma Cake)

This was highly recommended by many of my friends, so I decided that I have to try it at least once. Is it good? Well, I finished the entire cake by myself within a few hours. It was strangely addictive LOL!!

I was late for my lesson at SMU yesterday, because it was raining heavily and my bus was late (excuses, I actually woke up later than usual LOL). Oh speaking of bus, I'm so happy that there's direct bus from my home to school! :D

Anyways, it was another day of culture shock. The Professor was asking for volunteers to do individual presentations, and by NUS' standards, it would be silence until the Professor picked someone. However, the game changes in SMU. PEOPLE ACTUALLY ENTHUSIASTICALLY VOLUNTEERED TO PRESENT. Oh wow, I guess I have a lot to learn.

Fatiha brought me to the library this time. It was so grand, unlike NUS. I'm actually loving SMU environment, somehow it feels therapeutic to study there. (: And my long bus ride to SMU also strangely feels very therapeutic. Hahahaha! I'm loving it!

So Fatiha left first because she had lessons after that. I was left alone in the library, but not for long, because I was meeting Huiqi shortly after. Then another embarrassing moment happened. T.T I couldn't find my way to Plaza Singapura from the library, so I walked back to my school. As I was making my way to the mall from my school, I actually had to walk past the library. Wth, did I just spend 20 minutes walking back to the same place???

Somebody save this direction idiot please. T.T

(Salmon Truffle Udon)

Itacho Sushi with Hui Qi after our KTV session. I love the fact that my school is so near to Teoheng! (: Thanks Hui Qi for coming down all the way to find me.

Anyways, I ordered this bowl of salmon truffle Udon because they had a promotion for it, so it's only $7! I thought it was weird initially because I couldn't imagine salmon with udon, much less truffle with udon. LOL, but it turns out amazing as usual. Itacho, you have done this right. (:

(Salmon, salmon, salmon)

What's Itacho without salmon! These salmon sushi taste damn delicious hahaha! (: I controlled myself from overordering this time round. This was my first Itacho experience that's not with Vivian, and my first Itacho experience that didn't burn a hole in my pocket. Much be Vivian's fault that I'm always spending my entire fortune at Itacho tsktsk.

In the dark times
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will also be singing
about the dark times.

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

I know times may be hard for you right now. But just breathe. You can do this.

I'm so sorry if I disappeared for so long. Things have just gotten so hectic suddenly T.T

Backgrounder: I actually went for a 2 weeks trip to Taiwan recently. Come to think of it, I usually spend my Christmas and New Year Eve overseas because the plane tickets are cheaper somehow? Hahaha! Anyways, with this trip, I covered most of the places in Taiwan already. I just left a few more areas, like Kenting and Penghu, but I guess for those two places, it is better to head over during the summer instead!

(Throwback)

I was walking home with a Starbucks that day, and I thought that using the road as the backdrop is a nice idea. Hahaha, it was around 6pm and the sun was setting. The rays give the picture more depth yeahs! Nice.

Sorry, I digressed. So I was saying, my days suddenly became so much more hectic. Why? Because two days after I touched down in Singapore, I had to attend lessons in SMU.

Anyways, I went to collect my SMU ID card on Monday and in the meantime, explore my new home for the next semester. PS. The ID card was vertical and I didn't quite like it. And I hate the fact that I have to tap in everytime I enter a building, ohgosh, damn inconvenient. Kenneth was telling me that the school is quite near Dhoby Ghaut, so I tried walking but omg where got near?!? Unless there is some shortcut that I didn't know of x.x

Tuesday was my official first day at school. I embarrassed myself because I walked into the wrong classroom and only realized it when the professor started lecturing. Wth I didn't realized there was Classroom 3.2 vs Seminar Room 3.2. I just walked into a room that stated 3.2 LOL. I'm an idiot. But thankfully, all their classrooms/seminar rooms are in the same building which makes it easier to find (unlike NUS, I think if I'm lost, that's it. I don't have to attend classes anymore because I probably need 1h to find my way).

I'm so not used to having 3h of lessons straight with only 10mins break in between. NUS's seminars only lasted 2h 35mins with a break in between somemore. Sighs, I feel like I cannot sit still and my brain was not working and I'm so exhausted.

So anyways, after the first lesson, I realized I had problems logging into the school portal. So my new friend, Fatiha, brought me to the IT Help Center. I'm so thankful to her for helping this clueless kiddo over here. And she also brought me to the SMU LAB, which is this cosy corner for people to have discussions and nap. Right, nap. They have beanbags for people to sleep. LOL. It was like #housegoals because everywhere was so bright and colorful! It brightens up my feelings straightaway.

Anyways, I had a 5h break in between because my first lesson ended earlier. I was so bored because I'm alone and I didn't want to waste money on public transport to go home first. So I found a table at a corner and started watching my variety shows. LOLOL. Goodness. I ended my lessons for the day at 10pm (I suddenly miss Aaron because he always let us go home 1h earlier) and only reached home at 11pm plus. T.T Sudden regrets for taking night classes. Zzz.

What an "eventful" first day of school. T.T

Throwback to the time I had Flaming Don with my mother. It was a Japanese restaurant located at Bugis+, and I would say the prices are a little steep. But it has a lot of good reviews, and I wanted to pamper myself for a bit hahaha! (:

(Hot green tea and miso soup)

(Teriyaki Chicken Don)

(Salmon Don)

Yes, the food is very nice. Worth trying it if you are in the vicinity!

Sorry for the long post, because I just wanted to document all the nitty gritty things during my SMU exchange. They will be memories that I will look back fondly in the future. :D

Maybe she'll call me one day
to tell me to stop writing about her,
and I will tell her that I will,
when she stops inspiring me.
