My shining dishonesty will be the salvation of me.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Didn't receive many red packets this year and the cousins were all overseas for their studies, so LOL I got the opportunity to 'bond' with my uncles and aunties. (: Okay, maybe spending too much time with them turned me into an auntie as well. Kidding!

(Step 1)

(Step 2)

(Step 3)

Dined at Royal Steam Restaurant at Jurong East area with the extended family. We split to two tables because we booked too late and there were no more joint tables zzzz. We decided to go for steamed seafood, and I would say the food is really quite good!

(Scallop with Glass Noodles)

(Fresh Prawns)

(Mushrooms)

(Crabs)

The seafood is really quite fresh, and because the food is steamed, it feels healthier! (: But personally I still prefer chilli crabs though! By the way, the food being delicious is one thing. The service being bad is another thing. Wth, I think they hired untrained part-timers who were very unprofessional. They forgot to serve us certain dishes; they charged us for wet tissues even though they didn't provide any; and they even pour tea on the floor accidentally. Goodness, it's Chinese New Year so can they be more careful tsktsk.

(Chicken and Pork)

(Fish)

(Flying fish)

This is too funny LOL! The fish is freaking cute luh! It looks like it is going to fly soon. Even the mouth looked weird HAHAHAH! But okay it's damn scary because it's facing me T.T

(Lotus Rice)

(Vegetables that scared me off)

(Dessert)

One of the restaurants that I will never step foot into again. I prioritise customer service to food. Hmm...

Anyways, sorry for the lack of updates! Life was quite hectic recently, but today is quite productive because I had a four-hour long group meeting, to which we finalized and submitted the proposal! One thing off my plate at least.

In a world of books, you are fiction and I am the words that tell our story.

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

(Ripped from Take 3, Fight HPV Facebook page)

Check out this cute video done by my groupmate, Bernice! The link is here:
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10211197280476869&id=1503879644

How I spent my Chinese New Year Eve: Since I don't have school on that day, my parents 'forced' me to do spring cleaning at home. T.T I vacuumed and mopped the floor, and I did the laundry as well. It took me 3 hours to rush through all the house chores, but I was still late to meet my sister. LOL, is it 'best' sister award goes to me. T.T

(Pizza Maru)

Treated her to lunch at Pizza Maru in the end because I was guilty that she had to wait an hour for me. LOL. My current favourite mall would be Northpoint City. Hahaha, it is a food heaven - perfect place for me. Hehes, :D I ordered Mango Ocean, which is essentially just mango pieces with seafood on the pizza. It tasted nice, but not exceptionally delicious that I will be willing to pay $24 for it again. LOL. The pizza is quite small x.x I initially wanted to packet the leftovers home for my parents to try, but we managed to wipe clean all 6 pieces of pizza. LOL. Collecting calories~

(Happy New Year, Happy Us)

There's a 1-for-1 promotion over at Teafolio, so we got two cups of grape. It is not bad, just a little too sweet for my liking. But it's quite worth it though! $2.50 for a big cup! The parents picked us up from Northpoint afterwards, so we had some time to go home to change into a fresh set of clothes before meeting relatives for reunion dinner!

(All my favourite food on the table)

This year, we decided to order the food from a restaurant and packet it home for convenience. The whole table costed $400+ T.T But the food is super delicious and the portions are huge, so all is well! We managed to finish everything. Kudos to us!

(鱼生)

Yusheng is definitely a must-have dish to eat during Chinese New Year because it is a symbol of abundance and prosperity. It usually consists of strips of raw fish (we opted for salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces. This year, the restaurant was very generous because there was plenty of salmon and abalone in the yusheng! My favourite! Yum! 😊

(盆菜)

Look at the number of abalone!! This is super expensive hahaha, but okay it takes a lot of effort to prepare this dish. Using a ceramic pot, the ingredients are layered thoughtfully. At the bottom, vegetables were placed to soak up the juices. In the middle, different meat and mushroom are laid. At the top, we often see seafood, such as prawns, abalone, scallops and sea cucumber. The dish is prepared over a few days to ensure that the flavours of each ingredient are brought out.

(Orni)

The Chinese have a tradition to eat yam paste served with ginkgo nuts during the Chinese New Year. Ginkgo is one of the oldest plants, so this dish is a symbol of fertility and longevity. This dish is commonly eaten as dessert!

(Isn't this cute?! 年糕 in the shape of fish)

I wish everyone 年年有余 (鱼)! This is a glutinous rice-cake dish traditionally consumed during Chinese New Year for good luck. My family always buy this every year, but this is the first time I see rice-cakes in the shape of a fish?? Businesses getting creative here, hmm :D

Thankfully I am not planning to wear any body-hugging clothes during Chinese New Year. With the amount of food I consumed, I scared my tummy will show. T.T

The art of knowing is knowing what to ignore.

It was announced recently that Dayre would be closing down because the platform is no longer profitable. I felt sad even though I'm not a dayre user (but I have used it for a short while before migrating back to blogger). I enjoy reading dayre because there are more Dayre users (aka I can stalk them), but also it feels more personal. People write their thoughts and feelings in Dayre like a diary,  without the fear of getting judged. Whereas for other platforms such as Blogger and Wordpress, people tend to 'beautify' their lives which seems more fake? And also, it is used by many influencers as platforms to promote their endorse products. So yeahs x.x

I think I will cry myself to death if blogger suddenly announces the closing down of the platform. LOL, it has all my memories since 2007 lehs.

(Tea Party)

Finally trying Tea Party (NUS branch) after it opened one semester ago. I love it! The food was reasonably priced at $5, and it comes with a drink! :D I ordered Prawn Agilo Olio, I think it taste fine. But I have friends telling me that their Carbonara should be banned from selling LOL!!

(Gongcha in NUS)

I hate the machines omg. Gongcha implemented these machine ordering services, and it is annoying because it will get me a longer time to order my food. And also, they are going cashless. I have no idea why my ezlink card couldn't be detected, so it is stupid because I have to use my NETS to pay for something less than $5 T.T Furthermore, I'm not sure if I have higher expectations or did the quality of their drinks drop??

(Reunited with these gems from JC)

I have so many first times today! (: Hahaha, first time trying Tea Party, first time buying Gongcha ever since its comeback, and first time meeting Christel and Amanda ever since 2018 started! It was nice meeting up with them because the topics we discussed were always exotic (?) LOLOL!

(Two Men Bagel House)

On a side note, I met up with Vivian Phang for lunch at this nice cafe that she recommended! We ordered two different flavors to share (one salmon, one beef) and it was quite tasty! Personally, I prefer the beef more! The broke me couldn't afford going cafes often, but once in awhile it's nice to find a reason to pamper yourself.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Everyone has a 2AM and a 2PM personality.

New month, new me: Tried my best to be early for classes but plans always failed. And I realized that SMU students are generally all quite on time one. LOL, what a culture shock.

(Tea at Yakun)

P.S. I think their steamed bread are really nice?! But you have to eat it asap, because it tastes the nicest when it is piping hot. It is soft and moist, my palates approved!

So anyways, I had three quizzes this week. They generally went quite well, except for my investor relations module. LOL, wtf they even have negative marking for MCQ. Like hello, I don't even know invest well, you still want to give negative marking. Guess who left a thousand blanks in her answer booklet. And the short answer questions weighs 75% of the paper. Whoa, good luck to me!

(Satay Beehoon)

Popped by Bukit Timah after running a thousand errands. They have the best satay beehoon!

Soon next week it will be Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year. Hahaha, damn fast. But somehow, I'm not in the festive mood yet? T.T

A love that wakes up early, fetches water and blooms in your hands.

(Ripped from Tumblr)

Dream Love.

If you are looking for a daydream,
made of sugar soft love and candy cane grace,
someone who never falters or makes mistakes,
you have come to the wrong place.

I am wolf child loyalty and messy mad love,
I may be broken, but oh, my darling,
I will give you this, a love
as real as your own warm blood.

Happiness looks gorgeous on you.

As I was walking home just now, I chanced upon an ice-cream truck uncle. These days we don't really see them around anymore, so I was quite happy to see him! Hahaha. It really brings back memories from the past - I used to buy ice cream from the uncle twice a week during my primary school days! As I was walking home savoring my favourite Ripple Ice Cream Bread, I couldn't help but think to myself: WALAO Everything also raise price!!

I thought it used to be 60 cents, but now it was $1.20?! I can buy ice cream from McDonalds at only $1 T.T Times have changed. Speaking of this, I think Starbucks also raised their prices wtf. I was looking at the menu earlier on, and noticed that a cup of Grande-sized Mocha Frappuccino actually costs $7.30 now?! Daylight robbery omg.

(But I am very 贱, I still went to buy their new drinks)

In my defense, they have 1-for-1 promotion, so the price wasn't that bad. I got their new drinks - Chocolate black tea earl grey jelly frappuccino and Okinawa brown sugar latte without soya mousse because they ran out of that. Wth. Just my luck. In my opinion, the okinawa drink is slightly nicer compared to the chocolate black tea. But I'm biased because I prefer caffeinated drinks.

Anyways, not that I am money-minded (okay maybe I am), but I'm kind of worried about my student debt now that graduation is nearing. Sometimes I wonder why am I not smart enough to get a scholarship? I would have one less thing to worry about x.x

(Sembawang White Beehoon)

(Bittergourd with Egg - wet)

(Prawn Rolls)

(Chicken Wings)

(Vegetables with Mushrooms)

(Ngoh Hiang)

Dragged the family all the way to Sembawang for White Beehoon. It is absolutely delicious! But my advice is: just eat the white beehoon and the bittergourd with egg dish will do. The rest of the dishes are meh T.T And why am I posting photos of food at night. It just makes me feel hungry. x.x
