I've never heard silence quite this loud.

Internship Week 14

(Last Day of Internship)

It is my turn now to leave this wonderful organisation. Thanks National Library Board (NLB) for everything - my bosses and colleagues, my fellow interns, the guidance they provided me and the opportunities for me to grow.

From left to right:
Chim, Gwyneth, Elyssa, Anna, Cheryl, Ain, Jasna and Sabritri. Missing Taufiq and my designer! ðŸ–¤

(Last Lunch)

Last day of lunch with my lovely intern friends! Thanks Shaoyuan, Colin and Haziqah. Colin finally made the right order this time. Background story: he can't take spicy but he ordered spicy sauce the previous time. LOL, he was craving so badly for Eighteen Chefs but he couldn't eat a single bite! HAHAHAHA.

(Farewell Gifts from Colleagues)

Love the gifts that they gave me! (: Thank you all, I will use them wisely! My team also treated me to expensive three-course lunch by the way. Words alone can't express my gratitude to them.

(Farewell Gifts)

Tada! Revealing the farewell gifts that I have prepared for my team - hand drawn with love. P.S. I am quite proud of my artwork.

I ain't good with words, but I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for all your kind gestures. Than you for your guidance all these while, I really learned and grew a lot. The entire internship journey was tough yet an enjoyable experience. I would really miss y'all!

The battle is in your hands now.
But I would lay my armor down.
If you'd say you'd rather love than fight,
So many things that you wish I knew
But the story of us might be ending soon.

She is the type of girl that the moon chased and the stars wished for.

Internship Week 13

(NLB Camaraderie)

Work these days really make me appreciate colleagues better, LOL. Fatiha had some business to clear in the headquarters today hahaha, so I introduced her to my other intern friends (we were stationed in the headquarters except Fatiha). Had a great lunch today, and I'm happy that everyone can click so well together! (: You guys really make my day! Appreciate it.

(Ah Chew desserts)

Back to our daily grind - Ah Chew desserts - with Colin and Shaoyuan. I swear all our hard-earned money all went to eating desserts, specifically at Ah Chew. T.T All Shaoyuan's fault for the jio, because he knows that I can't resist desserts!

(Wok Hey Takeaway)

One of the rare times where we takeaway food back to office to eat, because we just wanted to avoid the crowd. Thought that the packaging for the Wok Hey was cool, but I didn't quite like the food because I find it too oily (and expensive). But apparently, Colin buys it often. LOL.

(Ah Chew Desserts)

Another day, another bowl of dessert. I guess we really need to stop eating, I need to watch my weight already?! This is the second time we were back at this place this week omg. T.T

(Jason's last day)

Time flies! It was Jason's last day for his internship already. Ded, we only knew of each other's existence last week during the intern presentation LOL. Better late than never, at least we made friends for a week now. Hahaha! (: And it's also soon going to be Caeryn's last day. Gonna miss the both of you, and all the best for your future endeavours!

You're the one that never lets me sleep
Through my mind, down to my soul,
you touch my lips.
You're the one that I can't wait to see
With you here by my side, I'm in ecstasy.

You know it's deep when someone's absence has an effect on your entire being.

Internship Week 12

Time flies, and I am really looking forward to go back to school! LOL, they always say grass is greener on the other side uh. When you are schooling, you feel like going to work. But when you are working, you feel like going back to school. These are my thoughts and feelings currently. Hmm x.x

We had this intern luncheon last Friday, and I am so glad that I decided to do the presentation in the end. I had an internal struggle initially because on one hand, I didn't want to do it because the thought of presenting to the senior management sounds scary and it is definitely not nice if I screw it up. On the other hand, I wanted to do it because it will force me to step out of my comfort zone, and yeahs I also wanted to impress them luh :P

(My favourite friend, Fatiha)

The presentation went quite well, and I am quite proud of myself. :D It was so sad that Fatiha had to miss my presentation because she had to run some work-related errands, and she only came after the presentation sighs x.x But ohwell, glad that she is embarking on this journey with me! The mingling session also allowed me to know other fellow interns, which is quite nice because everyone is so friendly and welcoming! P.S. I only knew of the existence of this other intern who is working at the headquarters during the mingling session T.T Goodness, I thought I was the only intern working at the corporate office, why nobody ever introduce us to each other?!

(Eighteen Chefs)

Finally eating some 'atas' food with the interns. LOL, Colin was not feeling very well so we decided to accommodate him and head to Eighteen Chefs for lunch. Guess which idiot place the wrong order? He ordered some spicy sauce to go with his baked pasta. However, he cannot take spicy and it came with chili padi somemore LOL!! We wanted to make him feel better by eating nicer food, but ended up he only ate one-third of his lunch. LOL, this is a joke seriously.

To celebrate the end of internship presentation, my family decided to head to Swensens for dinner. (LOL I made it sound like some super big project, but it really was eh - I had to went through four rounds of meetings and six revisions before my slides were finally approved T.T).

(Cream of Mushroom)

(Chicken Baked Rice)

(Carbonara)

(Rosemary Chicken)

(Lasagne)

This reminds me of the reason why I had not been to Swensens in such a long time. LOL, the food really not nice ehs! In my honest opinion, the bread with the soup was too hard. Soup spoon is so much nicer! I think you can also get better lasagne at Pizzahut. >.<

I suppose I love my scars
because they have stayed with me
longer than most people have.

We know what we are, but not what we may be.

Take 3, Fight HPV Roadshow
Town Plaza, NUS UTown
15 & 16 March 2018

(From left to right: Cassandra, me and Bernice)

I am so excited because we finally concluded our two-day roadshow, and it was super successful! We were initially afraid that nobody will turn up, partially because we released the dates and timings late (LOL, we were too busy to spend time designing the posters and other collateral). But we worried too much, hahaha! The turn-up rates exceeded our expectations!

I talked to soooo many people during the event, that after the entire roadshow, I just want to sew my mouth. LOL. I am really thankful for everyone who came down to talk to us - despite them not being our target audience. This campaign is actually aimed at NUS female students only (because we were looking at raising awareness of HPV to reduce the risk of cervical cancer), but we welcome everyone to come down to talk to us! HPV affects both males and females, regardless of age.

(With Melissa, one of our sponsors for the event)

Hahahas, did she come down specially to recce our roadshow since her organisation was funding us? LOLOL! Kidding, she is a really damn nice lady who gave us many advice. :D It was a good learning experience overall. Thanks for coming down and support us!

So I mentioned that we talked to many different people from all walks of life. To be honest, speaking to the Medicine students gave me nerves because LOL I just had the feeling that they will know more than me. But ohwell, these Medicine students were generally very nice and friendly! I guess they were quite attracted to our booth because HPV was quite related to their field of study? Hahaha!

(With my most loyal supporters, Christel and Amanda)

One day before the event, I sent out many messages to ask my friends to drop by if they are going to be in the vicinity (because I was afraid that nobody will turn up LOL). Many of them came, and I am really grateful. Hahaha, that sudden realization that I do have friends. LOL. But Christel and Amanda are really my biggest gems in life. They even helped us set up the booth, man the booth and many more. Gosh, where to find these friends! I don't know what have I done to deserve them, but really. I am eternally grateful.

(This is how we rock and roll)

LOL, after the first day of event, we decided to leave everything at the booth itself, because we were to lazy to bring all the stuff back to the storeroom. We looked around and saw that everyone brought those big waterproof cloth to cover their goods, but we only have this cheapo tablecloth from our office. LOL, and the cloth wasn't even big enough, we had to tape two cloth together to cover the entire table T.T I guess this will be a good learning experience: the importance of a big waterproof cloth.

If you are interested, can check out our post-roadshow video here! It was just a minute long video that showcases some highlights of our roadshow, perhaps you can spot yourself in it too! :D

The most powerful thing is realizing you've healed. The most beautiful thing is realizing you've grown.

(Open Mic Session)

Picture taken after our open mic session :D We went for a pitching session in order to get some funds for our campaign (because we were poor as hell, and we needed to get funding somewhere). LOL, but good news, we managed to get some funding!! I am really grateful for everything.

The open mic session also allowed us to interact with the other participants, and to my dismay, I realized that majority of them were from secondary school! :O These kids were so young yet they were also planning to execute campaigns. To be honest, some of their projects were nationwide scale and mine was only at the university-level). T.T

What was I doing during those days? I guess just playing and fooling around, T.T I'm really super impressed by them. They were mature, and truly possess the young change maker mindset. :D Keep up the good work! I'm really looking forward to see their work take flight!

(Kimchi Fried Rice)

Throwback to dinner at Masizzim Restaurant with Vivian Ng two weeks ago. It was a Korean restaurant, and I'm so excited to relieve those memories from my Korea exchange! :D

Their fried rice taste different from the normal fried rice, but it is really delicious! Besides, they offer free flow of side dishes and they taste great as well! We kept asking for refills x.x Such greedy pigs, tsktsk.

(Bibim naengmyeon)

Give this dish a pass. It was super not worth it. The only good thing about it is that it was not super spicy, so I could still take it. LOL! But next time, I think I might give their pancakes a try! The table next to mine ordered it, and it looks legit hehes!

(Egg roll)

Egg roll recommended by Vivian was indeed tasty! (: There was cheese inside the egg roll, and coupled with honey mustard sauce, the dish was really to die-for. But it gets jelat after a while, so best is to share it!

Some days, I can conquer
the world; other days,
it takes me three hours to
convince myself to bathe.

I hope you find someone who calms the storm within your soul.

(Don Don Donki Theme Song)

I dragged my family to the highly-raved Don Don Donki at Orchard Central the other day. The shop was playing their theme song, and I hate to admit but it was quite addictive. In no time, I found myself unconsciously singing along to it. Omg, please do not judge me T.T I found the theme song cover by Bryan/Serena/Kexin, you can go watch it if you haven't hear the song yet LOL. It is really strangely... addictive...

(Mochi-like thing)

Not sure what is this, but we got this from Don Don Donki and we love it a lot! I got my soba ingredients there as well, it was reasonably priced! Update: I tried cooking soba for lunch the other day, and I succeeded. It was quite tasty, and the best part? It only required little cooking. LOL, perfect for me yeahs! :D

Anyways, I wanted to document down some interesting moments that I had with my tutee because #memories. He is such a gem! I really, really love kids. To give a context, he is just a P4 kid. He always has new soft toys in his house, so every week during break, he will exhibit all his toys to show me. LOL, but gosh kids these days are so blissful?! They have all these interesting toys which I didn't even see before? Or is it I deprived of childhood?

#1 Formal Talk
There was this day which he decided to talk very formally with me LOL. This conversation happened after he came back from a toilet break.

Tutee: "Okay, let's go back to our discussion. What is the point you raised?"
Me: "Ah what?" (LOL, I was merely teaching him Maths problems but I went on to explain)
Tutee: "So you were saying... Okay, I have a better understanding of it now. Let's move on to the next problem sum, shall we?"
Me: (Continues teaching for awhile)
Tutee: "May I be excused? I need to settle some business in the kitchen first"
... He meant he wanted to grab some snacks from the kitchen first...

#2 Childish Talk
Then there were days when he was being super childish, but I had to play along with him so he will listen to me and do his work.

Me: "How do you do this question?"
Tutee: "Wait, a moment. I need to ask Dicey first" (Dicey is his Gudetama plushie)
Me: "Okay, so what did Dicey say?"
Tutee: "Dicey said he is feeling sleepy. So can I go to put him to sleep first?" (He ran to tuck his Gudetama in bed afterwards)

A few moments later....
Me: "So have you figured out this question?"
Tutee: "Nope, I need to call Dicey." (Then he actually fished out his handphone to pretend call omg)

He never fails to make me laugh. And I guess that's what make teaching enjoyable yeahs? ðŸ˜„

I am insecure, raw, imperfect

In a world that is open to you, you need not always keep the content of your heart.

The following article was written by my groupmate, and it is too memorable not to share. (: It really documents our noob experience working on campaigns; but I guess they serve as memories in the future.

Behind-The-Scenes: An Unwitting Trip to the Warehouse.
March 1, 2018

Running a campaign is not the easiest thing to do, especially if it involves only 3 people working in the team. Being first-time executors of our campaign, it also gave us some new experiences to enjoy, and one of those was a rather interesting trip to DKSH warehouse, situated in a rather unknown part of West Singapore. Our order was due for collection, and since they were unable to provide delivery to school, we decided to make a trip firsthand to collect the packages ourselves!

Not knowing what to expect, we decided to head there with no plans, other than the fact that we had the transaction number of our order. With little insight as to what to do or prepare, we went ahead blind.

Navigation

The 3 of us decided to navigate there on public transport, and we saw rather unfamiliar sights, as the scenes changed, where the bus drove into an industrial area. Basically, it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. “This is so ulu,” we had declared, as we disembarked from the bus stop, and walked under the heavy afternoon sun, trying to find the warehouse that stored some of our goodies. There was nothing but vans and large trucks weaving in and out of the vicinity, and Pandan reservoir situated opposite us. We passed by a building that looked like a carpark, and to our surprise, it was the address that we were supposed to head towards.

After checking in on the 1st floor, the security guards ushered us up to the 7th floor, whereby we saw nothing but open space, tons of boxes, and men sitting upon forklifts, driving and weaving their way around immensely large, spacious roads. We felt incredibly small standing in the midst of the wide roads, and the high ceilings.

There was a guardhouse situated on the 7th floor as well, and there we had to surrender our ICs, and don a rather strange looking vest, that looked almost like a climbing harness. It was a mandatory procedure for anyone who was to walk in further into the storehouse area, as the place was chock full of vans, forklifts and trucks.

“Yes girls, put this on! It’s for your safety,” laughed the old security guard at the entrance. After that, we were directed to walk onward to the middle of the floor, where the main administrative office was situated. It was a rather strange sight, to be just about the only women that we had seen so far on the floor, and we were probably the youngest as well. While the other staff were don in helmets and full gear, we were clad in t-shirts, ripped jeans and shorts, which fit much better at the university campus, as opposed to an industrial storehouse.

All set and ready with our safety harness.

Confusion

Being slightly lost at what to do, we waited for a long while (maybe a good 20 minutes) for the administrative office to tend to us. The person at the counter, an elderly man of few words, had took our student pass, and did the paperwork on our behalf, before ushering us into the storeroom area. It was like a scene from the movies, and I have not seen a place quite like it is.

If I had to give you an analogy, it would remind you of the Department of Mysteries, in Harry Potter, or the Storage Facility in the scene of Monsters Inc. There were tons of boxes stacked up upon these shelves, and the only way to retrieve them were the forklifts.

Taken from: https://artofspying.net/2014/10/14/answers-the-department-of-mysteries/

It was a rather systematic process. Upon passing our receipt to the man-in-charge, another was sent on a forklift to retrieve our package. There were forklifts of many sizes, which looked rather fun to drive and manoeuvre around. Eventually, we witnessed one of them driving in our cargo (25 boxes to be exact), and were instantly relieved that the package wasn’t too big for us to manage. Upon signing off our package, they instructed us to arrange transport to drive up to the 7th floor, which we were rather worried about, considering it would be hard to get a Grab or an Uber, to come all the way to an industrial estate and to drive up 7 floors to pick us up with heavy cargo.

We requested for a trolley to transport the cargo downstairs, but due to security concerns, we could not borrow any trolley from them. They placed our cargo at the side of the road, telling us to call for a vehicle to drive up, in which the staff would help us unload the boxes into the vehicle. The elderly man at the admin office said, “I thought you students would have come prepared with a vehicle!”, to which we laughed and said that it was only 3 of us who were doing this project.

Since none of us had a car for the day, we had to call in for a Grab. Amazingly, within 2-3 minutes of keying in our request on Grab, someone had responded and was actually willing to pick up the offer, despite our clear indication of “7th floor of warehouse. Pickup with cargo”. Amused and yet happy, we decided to try and move our boxes to the guard house, such that it was easier for our Grab driver to find us.

Transporting Cargo

The forklift drivers – all rather old, seasoned uncles, watched us with bewilderment as we tried to singlehandedly carry the boxes over with our bare hands. We carried the first batch of boxes to the guard house without anyone’s aid, yet, as we returned for the second round, we saw a forklift driver whisk by with all our cargo, dropping the rest of the boxes at the guardhouse like we had intended. We witnessed the security guards and the cargo men smiling, somewhat amused at our attempts to move our cargo and arrange for transport, and we realised that we must have looked really inexperienced, which could have caused them to garner so much assistance to help us. It was a slightly embarrassing, but also funny sight.

Eventually, the Grab driver appeared, and he was nice enough to reverse his car into a more suitable position for us to place most of the boxes into the boot. We travelled back to school, hot and sweaty from our efforts to carry the cargo, but also relief, that we managed to find transport at all.

Yan Qi and Cassandra at the backseat with the remaining cargo. Look at how relieved we were!

Upon reaching the school, the next menial task was to transport all the unloaded cargo up to the Communications and New Media office, in which it involved us borrowing a trolley, and finding a suitable place for drop off. It took additional minutes of getting the appropriate access to the room and the trolley, before we could continue with this feat. Thankfully, there was a lift available that brought us to the correct floor, which made the transporting a lot easier. After 2 rounds of going up and down via the lift, we managed to move everything into the storage room that was intended.

To end it off, we all drank cups of cold milo in a celebration of successfully moving everything over, till we all laughed and realised we did not even open the boxes to figure out how big the individual cookie packs were. Well, another problem for another day. That’s how campaign events are I suppose.

The remaining half of the cargo.

It was a tiring, but rather interesting day, taken up by a lot of cluelessness, waiting and spontaneous reaction. While it was not the first time any of us had been to a warehouse, it was definitely the first time we tried to single-handedly transport everything by ourselves.

This is one of the many incidents that go on behind-the scenes as we lead up to our instalments in March. Planning a campaign definitely takes time and effort, and this is one of the many learning opportunities in the journey. It has been rewarding in more ways than one, and it has strengthened team solidarity, as well as injected fun and spontaneity into our event planning.

We are thankful for the helpful staff at DKSH, our faithful Grab driver, as well as the help of the CNM office in the process. Ah well, to more adventures with this team!

What’s Next?

Look out for our next event from 15-16 March (11am-6pm) at U-Town. Till next time folks! Looking forward to having you there.

There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who keep you grounded, and those who weigh you down.

Three weeks into my part-time internship and I was already feeling the shagness. Sometimes I question my life decisions, why did I even take up this internship when I'm studying full-time in NUS. Moreover, I'm not even underloading - I'm taking the average workload in school. LOL. My exhaustion, I brought it upon myself yeahs. T.T But then again, being busy gives me the false impression that I'm productive. LOLOL. The feeling feels so good.

(Parmesan Garlic Fries)

Throwback to my first lunch with the colleagues. They brought me to this atas cafe called Wine Mansion located at Outram Park. The walk from the MRT was so complicated that I have no idea how to go there again without the help of Google maps. LOL. Anyways, we wanted to get truffle fries initially but cries, they changed their menu so there's no truffles fries anymore. We ordered parmesan garlic fries instead and it tasted superb as well! The portion is so generous, gosh.

(Shashukha)

This is a dish of beef gravy, eggs and bread. Quite interesting yeahs?! It is scrumptious too! I'm quite happy that my colleagues can all take beef, LOLOL. Anyways, I swear the whole group of us was being quite 'suagu' because we kept asking the waiter questions. To be honest, the menu looked alien to me because I cannot understand what are the dishes half the time. I mean, how would I know what's this 'shashukha' rights? I went to google, and I realized that it is of Tunisian origin, and it quite a popular dish in Middle East and North Africa. #interestingfacts

(Beef Kebab)

This is the main highlight of the day! I ordered beef kebab, but regretted instantly because the beef was quite overcooked. Should have stick to the chicken instead, it is more tender. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the dish. The portion they gave was so huge that I only managed to finish the entire beef kebab, half the rice and a few mouthfuls of salad. LOL. My colleagues looked at my speed of eating and went "I'm sure you cannot finish". Hahas, yeahs I really cannot finish. Gosh. This is too much.

The cafe is actually not bad yeahs. I only paid $15 in total for everything, and I was seriously stuffed to death. I had a food coma after that, so I kept dozing off at my work table. LOL, oops. #exposed

Anyways, thanks for recommending such an interesting place! It was quite cheap considering the quality of the food (and it is a cafe LOL), and they specializes in wine. I don't know how to drink wine luh. T.T

Saturday, July 1, 2017

I think it is great to find out someone's story. I think it's even better when you become a part of it.

This was a super backdated post. Oops!

I ended my internship two weeks ago. It was my first internship, and to be honest, it was to a company that I have never ever thought of joining, or rather interning at. Hahahaha, it totally doesn't suit my personality but ohwell, I have no choice because I was rejected by many companies after knowing that I am only going to intern for a short period of time. Like really super short period of time. T.T

But no regrets. I really love this internship. The jobscope, the work culture and most importantly, my team and my fellow interns. (:

(Farewell gifts from my supervisor and colleagues)

This is so cute?! Hahahaha, thank you all for being so patient with me, for guiding me, and for giving me advice on life/work. I have the chance to interact with many colleagues and to work with them for various programs (or rather shadow them LOL). It was absolutely a good opportunity to see what my future media job entails.

(Farewell lunch treat)

I'm so blessed, my assistant director Simon Ng treated the entire team to lunch at Kenny Rogers for my farewell. It is a restaurant located at Velocity, Novena, that serves Western food. I was famished that day, and so I ordered as such (as shown in the picture) and everyone commented on how much carbs I'm taking. LOLOL, paiseh I just want to be full. But anyways, this restaurant is freaking expensive ah...

(Interns ftw)

And not forgetting my cute interns: John, Shaokai, Jasmine, Jiawen, Huiyi, Donovan, Richmond, Isaac and Rachel who is not in the picture. LOL, it was such a large group yet I was so amazed that we can actually bond quite well?! LOL, I miss eating lunches with them, going home with them on the dot. Sighs, just because I left the internship early, please forget me not. :D

(My cute New Media Team)

Special thanks to my supervisor, Winnie. Thanks for bringing me everywhere for various events, not to mention, shoots and filmings. I was quite involved in the filming for the K9 dogs and I was amazed by myself, because I am really scared of dogs. LOLOL! (:

Not to forget, my other colleagues: Evelyn, Kexin and Jianhao. They really helped and guided me a lot. Thanks for believing in me and giving me the chance to take charge of projects, like the interviewing of candidates. LOLOL, gosh. I was so nervous for it.

To be honest, I really felt saddened by the fact that I would not be able to see the project, that I embarked on with my fellow interns, to the end. Sighs. At that point in time, I really wish to extend my internship arghs but I can't. Isaac was saying that perhaps I can extend, then take leave for a month (because I was due for summer school). HAHAHAHA What nonsense!

(Jasmine, my partner-in-crime)

My fellow intern from the same team under different supervisors. Hahahaha, what would I do without you. I will always remember the times the both of us sharing a laptop to do work. LOLOL, thanks for being there because my workload is halved. I'm sorry that my absence meant that you have to tank everything by yourself. But I'm sure you will enjoy it! :D

(The closest interns)

Thanks for always bullying me, and giving me the strength to grow and fight back HAHAHA!

Sighs, speaking of that, recently the interns had the chance to meet Nathan Hartono and had their pictures taken with him. What on Earth?! Can I just fly back to Singapore now sobs.

(The NS boys)

My former intern, YanYi. Even though we only worked together for a week, thanks for giving me all the tips and advices, e.g. Who to look out for in the office. LOLOL! So stroked to find out that she also joined the Criminal Behavioural Analysis Competition (CBAC) which I also did join. HA, so the interns and the NS guys should stop laughing at me for taking half-day leave (and slogging my guts off through OT-ing to compensate the hours) just to join this competition.

Then we have the NSboys HsienHean and ChiHian. Just endure for awhile more because y'all are going to ORD soon! Thanks for being the big brothers in my life, for tolerating all my nonsense. Hahaha!

I always pester HsienHean to help me login to the computer because somehow my account was shut down T.T And I actually nagged at ChiHian, my cubicle mate, to stop throwing his food waste and packaging into the wastepaper baskets at our cubicle because it will attract cockroaches. LOLOL!

(Farewell gifts)

I got my team some tea and biscuits from Marks and Spencers. They are not the cheapest, but I really like the packaging and I hope it taste good! :D The broke me can only afford oreos for my interns and other colleagues HAHAHAHA.

I took pictures with the team leaders Diana, Edward and Ricky as well. The pictures are on my Instagram you can check them out hehehes. Uniformed man lehs :D

All in all, I really thank everyone for their help and guidance. I really enjoyed my short stinct here. It was a good experience and to be honest, I'm actually thinking if I should apply to go back and intern during my next break HAHAHAHA.

I'm at a place in my life where peace is priority and negativity cannot exist.

Lack of updates because I'm busy preparing for everything sighs. I am done with both my internship reports and have submitted them. Yay! I can finally breathe! :D

Previous week's happenings.

1. Intern lunch @ Standing Sushi Bar

Guess who's feeling rich that day that we all decided to Grab all the way to Bras Basah for our sashimi fix? No wonder my monthly expenses were doubled that of Amanda's. With that said, I haven't gotten my pay yet LOL. T.T

(Plate of salmon sashimi)

It is quite a good deal actually! They have a promotion on Mondays, and so it only cost $3 for 5 sashimi slices! I paid $7 for mine, including service charge and GST. It is cheap and good, yumz! :D

P.S. The restaurant must be so happy to serve us. We only ordered salmon sashimi and we only stayed there for 30 minutes or so. But they earned ~$75 from us. LOLOL.

2. Mother's Day celebration

Belated celebration because we refused to squeeze with the crowds on the actual day itself. Blame it on me because I forgot to reserve any restaurants. Oops. But ohwell, in my defense, I managed to get a great deal! :D

(Big platter)

(The legendary pot)

(Cheese sauce)

So I booked The Flame Cafe using the Eatigo application and I received a $5 Capita mall voucher. Say whut?! I am a happy kid. LOLOL. (:

With that said, I didn't actually like the restaurant. The waiter tried to 'con' us into getting some expensive set ($38 per pax), but lucky the sharp-eyed me found a $20 set. The two sets were similar, just that the more expensive option includes expensive seafood such as Tiger Prawns. But the cheaper option serves prawns as well, so I don't see the reason why I should pay more...?

Shortly after we were served our food, the soup started spilling out. I guess they didn't tighten properly or the pot might be cracked, I don't know. We had to request for a change. T.T

There was a wide variety of food available, and the best part? It is free flow! From vegetables to the different types of mushrooms, different types of meat to different types of seafood. They do serve drinks such as Thai milk tea and fruit punch, and ice cream which is damn nice.

But wait, I haven't gotten to the problem yet. So despite the wide array of food available, the waiters forever cannot get my order rights. One moment they served me the wrong food. The next moment they missed out some food from my order list, and it still didn't arrive even after I submitted my order list twice. There was also once when they lost my entire order form. I have waited for so long for my food to arrive and now they were telling me that the order list was gone?!

This restaurant is featured on a lot of platforms, and is endorsed by many bloggers. However, customer service really means a lot to me. So my verdict for The Flame Cafe: not worth the hype.

3. Dinner @ Griddy's with Amanda

Finally met this girl after what seems like eternity. Hahahaha! She's always too busy to make time for me tsktsk. Popped in to Griddy and gosh, the both of us started coughing non-stop. The smoke from all the cooking is really $('&) :&=% terrible. T.T

(Soup in a cup)

I like this idea of serving soup in a cup. And their cups are so minimalistic, very aesthetically pleasing. Thumbs up! :D

(Sides)

The set meal comes with a side as well. It was quite worth it - $10 for the three-course meal. I approve :D

(Chicken steak with Aglio Olio)

It is not spicy, thankfully. But I didn't really like their main course. It is lacking somehow. Hmm... And dry I would say. Ohwell, wouldn't come back again unless I'm feeling broke yet still craving for atas food. Hehehes :D

(Mango Shaved Ice)

After the recent Bingsu craze that took over Singaporeans, I'm sure many of us would have forgotten the taste of one of our all-time favourite Taiwanese dessert - mango shaved ice! :D Glad to find this shop selling mango shaved ice in Westgate, Jurong East. I forgot the shop name. LOL.

(Teriyaki Squid)

My favourite food ever. Hahahas, super stroked to chance upon the Japan festival (?) after dessert and they have a discount for this because late at night already LOL. We got this box at $5, and it is really a huge portion! :D Yessss!

This was never meant to work.
I was holding on to nothing.
