In the end, we'll all become stories.

Birthday Post #3

(Birthday Cake)

Met up with my long time friend JJ for dinner the other day to celebrate my belated birthday! (: So nice of him to get me a slice of cake, LOL. We tried so hard just to light up the candle because the wind was so strong!? The auntie and uncle from the other store even came over and tried to help us light up the candle with their big-ass lighter and after eternity, we finally managed to get it to burn (for less than a minute), but hey at least JJ finished singing the birthday song LOL!!

(Mazesoba)

Dined at the Japanese eatery, Kajiken, which is located along the Orchid Hotel at Tanjong Pagar! It was interesting because it was my first experience eating dry Japanese ramen, and initially I was deterred from entering the eatery due to the large amount of greens they put in the ramen?!

I would describe this dish, Mazesoba, as Singapore's Bak Chor Mee. The dry ramen noodles are mixed with minced pork, soft boiled egg and chopped vegetables. It was not too bad, the combination was quite well-balanced even for someone like me who doesn't usually eat vegetables!

(Macs Soft Serve)

On a side note, the McDonald's sweet potato waffle cone soft serve was the best I have ever tasted?! It was absolutely amazing even though it was more expensive at $2 each. Wouldn't mind eating it everyday - it's that good!

You're a sunflower
I think your love would be too much
Or you'll be left in the dust
Unless I stuck by ya

You know you can be small to the world, but big in someone's heart.

Birthday Post #2

(Ripped from Vox Cinemas)

On my actual birthday, I caught a movie called 'After' with my sister after work! It was a mad rush because the movie starts at 7.10pm, but I usually end work around 6.45pm on average T.T We ended up eating Macs for late dinner/supper after the show... Poor us LOL!

(Movie Preview Tickets)

I am not a fan of such American romantic films, but lady luck is shining on me and I won two free movie tickets from a giveaway contest! I have never heard of the movie before, but apparently it was based on a popular 2014 fiction novel of the same name written by Anna Todd.

Rating: 5/10

(Ripped from Twitter)

LOL, the movie has a predictable story line and the whole story plot was quite cliche. Will not recommend watching unless you have nothing better to do! Or if you think the male lead is nice looking HAHAHAHA :D

(Black Cha Shu Ramen)

On a separate occasion, I met up with my JC pals, Amanda and Christel, for dinner at Menya Musashi Kodou! These bunch of silly monkeys threw me a surprise with their presence LOL They didn't tell me beforehand that Christel was joining, so I was really pleasantly surprised hahahaha! Friends made parties worth attending, but good friends like y'all made the party worth remembering!

These days my Instagram were simply filled with stories of people heading to Japan for their graduation trips (even my mother and sister are in Japan now for their vacation). T.T No plans at the moment to head back there again (since I just went there five months back), so this Japanese ramen meal will suffice for now!

(Birthday Board)

Also, many thanks for the birthday board y'all made for me! Efforts 100/100 please! 😍

I am also blessed with a birthday treat from Clement and Lianjie! This was my first time at Big Fish Small Fish, because I am quite skeptical about them hahaha since they only serve fried food and I don't like fried food!

(Ripped from Eatbook.sg)

(Ripped from Eatbook.sg)

(Ripped from Eatbook.sg)

Gobbled down the food without taking photo (first time in history), because that idiot Lianjie made the two of us wait for him while he gym T.T We only had our dinner at 8pm, and I was feeling so hangry?! Hahaha, but thanks guys for being such fantastic friends and for remembering my birthday!

We ordered three sets of salmon fish and crisps, and the potato crisps are surprisingly tasty! I love their sauces the most, especially the salted egg and the cheese sauce. We also got their salted egg calamari with bonito flakes, it was great but gets a little jelat towards the end -because everything is fried and greasy and I don't have a habit of eating such food- LOL.

Overall rating: 8/10

Even though I didn't stay at Zion for long, but I am immensely grateful for having known Clement hahahaha. Thank you for being my greatest takeaway from the company, and for accompanying me during my times at Korea summer school, and for introducing me to another great friend Lianjie.

And all the colours blur into one
I'll keep running
To the place where I belong

Living in the winter, I am your summer.

On 15 April, a princess was born.

(Learning every year to become a beautiful and strong soul)

It's my birthday, happy birthday to me!

On my birthday, I just want to wish myself pure happiness that never ends.

Disclaimer: The balloons were not mine, but my sister's. Stole them from her to take a photo because they were too pretty! Current status: the pink star-shaped balloon was gone long ago, but the round 'Happy Birthday' balloon is still going strong (after three weeks?!)

To my delight, the sister got me a mini juice blender for my birthday! I really love it because it is small enough to be carried out, but the best part about the blender is that it makes washing super easy! (Yes, I'm lazy). From the day I got my hands on the blender, I have been making avocado milk and banana milk non-stop, LOL. I think I am an expert already. :D

(Birthday Cake)

(It was supposed to be a strawberry crepe cake)

My sister went the extra mile to make me a birthday cake (the actual reason was because she refused to spend more money buying me a birthday cake) LOL! It was a crepe cake gone wrong hahaha, but okay luh A+ for effort! The cake doesn't taste bad or anything, just that it looks nothing like a crepe cake... Nonetheless, love you sister!

Also, many thanks to the boyfriend for getting me a new wallet, and for making me feel greatly loved! 💖

Birthday Lunch @ Lokkee

Somehow I was also at the same restaurant for my birthday meal last year too! What a coincidence?!

(I still find their wet tissue packets intriguing~)

(5 Spice Crispy Pork Belly)

(General Tso's Chicken)

(Stir-fried Kale)

(Grilled fish with Sichuan mala broth)

The main reason why I went back Lokkee was because people said that their grilled fish was real good, and it really didn't disappoint! There were no fish bones at all (I hate them), and the broth is just so freaking addictive that we tried asking for extra broth but the staff refused T.T But 10/10 will patronise the restaurant again because of their delicious food and excellent customer service!

Thanks mom and dad for the birthday meal!

On this special day, I remind myself every year how blessed I am to have been given another year to experience all the wonders of this beautiful world. To all my friends and family, a huge thank you for staying by my side, and joining me in my life journey.

You're the only one of you.
Baby, that's the fun of you.
And I promise that nobody is
going to love you like me.

I promise that you will never find another like me.

Happy birthday to my amazing little sister!

Growing up with you was fun, the world is so much brighter with you in it. Today, I just want you to have the best of your day, explore and have a blast.

(Fleur De Lychee)

The sister requested to get her birthday cake from Rive Gauche. We have tried their signature chocolate cake which taste super amazing, so this time round I bought her the Fleur De Lychee instead for a change.

In all honesty, this is really a pretty piece of artwork cake perfumed with osmanthus flowers. There's different layers of vanilla sponge and lychee cream jelly, and their flavours are beautifully balanced. To my delight, it wasn't at all sweet.

(Rive Gauche Patisserie)

But for $38.80, this small cake is not very worth it lehs. I ordered online so I didn't have a gauge of the size. I cried tears of desperation when I went to collect it. (Okay quite exaggerated here but yup you get my point).

Lesson learnt: just stick to their chocolate cake. There's a reason why it is their signature.

(This. Is. So. True.)

Also, JH sent me this recently, and I thought it was a super accurate description?! Hahahaha, but okay I am willing to spend more for your birthday (read: birthday cake and birthday present, both of which cost a bomb). BUT ONLY for your birthday, please pay up for the rest. Kthxbye. LOL!

For dinner, we drove all the way to the East (Kampong Glam) for Middle Eastern cuisine! The restaurant is called Lubnan Authentic Lebanese Cuisine, and we were all quite excited because this was the first time we were digging in to Middle Eastern. Thanks parents for being open-minded (:

(Blueberry Ayran, Lubanese and Turkish coffee)

Verdict: Turkish coffee tastes so much nicer than Lubanese coffee! I love the blueberry ayran, a yogurt drink which is quite refreshing.

(Chicken Fatteh)

The photo on the menu looked weird, but thankfully we still went ahead to order this! Marinated strips of chicken breast prepared with toasted pita bread, covered with yogurt sauce, parsley and pine nuts. Simple dish but it just makes me crave for more!

(Chicken Shish Tawouk Wrap)

Marinated chicken cubes that is charcoal grilled, served with Lebanese garlic sauce and fries. Hahaha, when we were presented with the menu, I was busy googling for the names of the dishes because they are all so foreign to us! The fries are quite normal, but the sauce is amazing. The wrap taste even better, but I think that Stuff'd (fast food chain) does a good job at pocket-friendly prices too. LOL.

(Lamb Mandi)

Essentially, this dish is roasted lamb marinated with saffron and Arabic spices. The meat is juicy and tender, but I figured that chicken still suit my palates better. LOL This is my personal preference ah.

(Adana Tavuk Kebab)

Skewered minced chicken, spiced and grilled on charcoal topped with a special tomato sauce. The chicken is a little dry, but the sauce is to die for!

Our verdict: Try one time enough!

The food is quite expensive lehs, but the restaurant owner is from Turkey so I guess the food we eat is really authentic as what they say. My dad says he prefer his Chinese food, and I say I want to save the money and try different cuisine next time! :D

(Kampong Glam)

This is how Kampong Glam looks like at night! I am ashamed to say that this is my first time there after twenty three years. LOL!

But one of these things is not like the others
Like a rainbow with all of the colours
Baby doll, when it comes to a lover
I promise that you'll never find another like me.

Wednesday, January 2, 2019

You got me feeling drunk and high.

(Cheers to the New Year!)

Another 1-for-1 promotion at Starbucks, and we definitely are not going to miss it! My sister and I grabbed their Christmas flavors without hesitation - Gingerbread Latte and Toffee Nut Crunch Latte. Personally, I prefer the latter! :D

It was a crazy week because there's suddenly many things to clear at work before I head for my holiday trip to Japan. And I also got called for job interviews and writing tests, and everything was just cramped within this one week. It was simply mentally draining. T.T Crossing my fingers and praying to my lucky stars that everything will go well!

(Salted Egg Potato Chips)

Throwback to happier times. I suddenly missed going back to school. T.T My life is now is just full of worries, with my biggest worry about not being able to find a job. Sighs, life of an unemployed.

Anyways, JH and I dropped by Habitat by Honestbee awhile back because it was highly-raved with all the new technology and stuff like that. To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed LOL. But since we already specially made the trip down (p.s. that place is so ulu), I am not going home empty-handed. I left with a bag of salted egg potato chips in the end, and my verdict is that Irwins' taste nicer. But hmm.. recently Irwins is in the news regarding dead lizards being found in their products?? Ewwww.

(A bowl of warm soup for the rainy weather)

The grandfather requested to have his birthday lunch at Pastamania, and so Pastamania it is. It is funny how everyone wanted to reserve a Chinese restaurant to celebrate his birthday, but he insisted that he wanted to satisfy his cravings for Western food instead. LOLOL~ I mean, elderly usually prefer to eat Chinese cuisine isn't it!

(Garlic bread and my half-eaten pizza)

Trying my best to make everything look aesthetic because guess who was too famished and dug in before realizing that a photo has not been taken x.x Didn't manage to take photos of all the dishes that we ordered, so this time round I shall review their more interesting pasta flavors!

(Salted Egg Chicken Pasta)

The salted egg sauce is slightly grainy but I think overall it is still quite flavorful. The pasta is complemented by deep fried chicken chunks which are quite tender as well.

(Tom Yum Seafood Pasta)

This is wayyyy too sour for my liking. This is my go-to pasta dish whenever I head to Pastamania during my secondary school days, but I have no idea why it became so bad now?! Times have changed, and tastes have changed but why did it changed for the worse T.T

(Laksa Seafood Pasta)

This dish is just plain weird. Pastamania is so disappointing. I feel that their usual pasta dishes taste so much better than their newly-launched fusion flavoured pasta. In all honesty, I think their usual pasta dishes doesn't taste that great either. If you have more budget, I am pretty sure there are many more nicer spaghetti restaurants around!

Oh, angel sent from up above.
I feel it coursing through my blood.
Life is a drink, your love's about
to make the stars come out.

The best love is the kind that awakens the soul.

I struck gold when you became my friend. I am so glad that we met, and you don't know how much my life has changed because of you. Dear Hui Qi, I hope you have the happiest birthday. Happy belated birthday, bestie! :D

(Grilled Fish with Rice)

Dined at Hot Tomato because Hui Qi was craving for that, but there wasn't anymore student deals because we only reached the place at 7pm plus. We ended up ordering their normal mains, and I got myself their Grilled Fish with Rice dish.

One word of advice, stick to their pasta. I was quite famished because of a long day at work, so I wanted something more filling. However, apparently rice is a bad choice... T.T

(Cakes from Lady M)

We dropped by Lady M after the dinner, and we ordered their signature Vanilla Mille Crepes Cake for Hui Qi and the 'Gateau Aux Marrons' cake for myself. My cake has a fanciful name, but basically it is almond flour cake with whipped cream and chestnut cake. It is not bad actually, I would rate it a 9/10 because it is very nutty and not very sweet!

Celebrating our 9 years of friendship~ Thanks for being the big sister in my life even though I am supposedly older than you, hahaha. Thanks for taking care of me, and guiding me in my studies/life. We have come so far! You simply are the best, never spend a moment doubting it. So keep shining, my bright star. Have the best birthday!

Oh, angel sent from up above.
You know you make my world light up.
When I was down, when I was hurt,
You came to lift me up.

'Cause your love is the greatest gift of all.

Happy belated birthday to bestie, Vivian Ng! Best friends are friends who keep your embarrassing secrets private. Thank you for always keeping my less than proud moments under wraps. I think I have too many of them, and I do not want to lose my image HAHAHA!

Meeting for dinner because the busy lady is working, and she only has time to meet me for dinner. We were back to our favourite place Itacho for dinner! No idea why, but we always eat Japanese food whenever we head out?!

(This teriyaki squid is the bombz)

(Salmon Sushi)

(More salmon sushi)

(Salmon sashimi with salmon sushi roll)

We have serious issues LOL, did we just order salmon and just salmon for the entire meal?! This shows our love for salmon HAHAHA. Also on a side note, thanks for making me run all the way to Suntec City just to get your Xiaomi portable charger before the shop closes. T.T I lost all the weight gained from the meal.

Anyways, my presence is your present LOL - inside joke. But don't worry, I got you a real present too! A super nice blush palette! :P When I think back to all the things we've been through, I'm so thankful that I got to go through everything with you by my side. Happy birthday to my best friend who will never let me go through it alone!

Every time I hear our music play,
Reminds me of the things that we've been through.
In my mind I can't believe it's true.
But in my heart the reality is you.

Don't let yesterday use up too much of today.

Happy belated birthday to my bestie for the past six years, Amanda Seah!

(Twenty-two year olds with a child-like mind)

My birthday wish for you is that I hope you never stop enjoying the small things in life, because that's what makes life worth living. I hope that you take some time to enjoy the present while working for a better future. And I hope your year will be full of memories, happiness and adventure. I will always be supporting you~

(Ticket to the amusement park)

Throwback to the time spent at Universal Studios Singapore (USS)! It has been ten million years since I visited the place, because the tickets are #expensive

(When can I ever enjoy life like this zebra?)

(Did I mention that one of my favourite animals is the lion?)

Firstly, we took some lazy train to see these cute animals from the Madagascar cartoon! We went up thinking that it would be some exciting ride, but it turned out to be those chill, family-friendly ride. Hahaha! Okay luh, not bad for the first ride of the day!

(Lookalike?!)

(Me and my best friend, Mr Zebra)

We continued the lazy rides, and this time we got on the Carousel! There are many animals to choose from, but Manda and I just run towards the bigger animals LOL. #fightthekids #snatchwiththem

(The Ferris Wheel that we took eternity to find)

As we suck at reading maps, we wanted to identify a landmark to find our exact location. According to the USS map, there is a ferris wheel at the place that we were standing that time. However, we were not able to spot it. In the end, we chanced upon it when we headed to one souvenir shop. It turned out to be some mini kiddy ride. Like whut?! We were expecting some big ass 10m tall ferris wheel T.T

(Just realized we were decked in black and white)

At the end of the day, we tried all the rides except for the scary Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon. We still cannot bring ourselves to ride these omg. T.T On a side note, we spent $14 each for lunch at USS. It was super expensive and the quality does not meet its price?! Maybe next time y'guys can consider packing your own food there to save on some costs, or have a picnic there! :D

(Further proof that it is not worth $14)

(Back to our childhood)

Thank you bestie for the amazing day! There are friends and then there are best friends, once again happy birthday to the best friend that I could have ever asked for!
