I'm stuck in the dark but you're my flashlight.

Quick update before I head back to studying. T.T First midterm down today, and yeahs it was easy like what my seniors said. But I have a couple of questions unsure ._. And it's going to kill me. Arghs. Why no why, midterms please be good to me!

Last week's Recess Week :D

Monday.

Headed out to study with Vian at Jurong East library. First time being there, and wah the library is really damn big and conducive for studying?! We tried to explore this newspaper-film-reading thing using the machine, but apparently we can't and as we tried to turn the machine, the film flew out and created such a loud noise that eyes started staring at us. Ooops. Why does it seem that we will always create a ruckus everywhere we go huh? LOL!

(Astons for lunch)

And nope, I didn't order all that by myself. Hahahahas, double-up chicken shared with le bestie.

(Choco Banana Bingsu)

And we gave ourselves a break from studying.

Studying was quite effective (but it only lasted for maximum 2-3 hours?) LOLOL, we ended up playing Monopoly Deal in the library. Ooops. And I won all the rounds. Hahahahas, lady luck on my side? Or is it just I zai? LOL! :DDD

Tuesday.

Attended this volunteer briefing that I signed up for with Amanda. Wah, information overdosed (or more like I'm too tired). Hahahahas, what used to seem interesting seems intimidating now. Shit, no regrets please no regrets. Glad that we chose the night shifts because we can work together. :DDD

Headed home to bathe and all before meeting Jingren for dinner at Brotzeit, Westgate. My first time there, and hmm, it was an eye-opener? Everyone in there has a drink to complement their food. Hahahahahas! :D

I'm not good with German cuisine, and cause I paiseh take picture, here's a screenshot of my dinner I found online. Hehehehes! :DD

(This is a tad too dry, not as nice though!)

And I packet 1/2 of the pizza home for my family because we cannot finish eating. LOL! (: One pizza has like 16 square pieces. Two pizzas has 32 pieces. Ouch, fat die us. x.x

(But this is delicious! :D)

And apparently Jingren agreed too, because he kept attacking this plate instead of the other one?! Hahahahas! But this is really finger-licking good. :D

(Dessert)

(Real-time situation of my dessert)

The pancakes are fluffy, just the way I like it. The rum and raisins taste is not very strong, it is like a faint taste but good enough to trigger my tastebuds. But I hate the plum sauce. I find it too sweet? I ended up eating the pancakes without the plum sauce albeit a little dry. :/

Total bill amounts to $60. I was full. :D Comparing to Supply & Demand, it is nicer but much less filling. I didn't try Supply & Demand's side dishes or desserts, so no comments on that. Hahahas. The price range around the same though.

Bought him a birthday present, and glad that he liked it. :DD But I still need to improve on my taste for buying gifts for the opposite sex though. LOLOL! Apparently, I suck at that. Guys are so troublesome tsktsk. >.<

Wednesday.

Headed out early in the morning all the way to Farrer Park to conduct interviews with the elderly for my burdensome NM2104 project. It was just a freaking level 2000 module but there's so many things to do ._. Blame it on the over-enthusiastic professor. Hahahahas. Initially the task was to conduct 5 interviews (each lasting 60-90 minutes) per person, but apparently I guessed many wrote to him to complain, and the requirement was changed to 4 interviews (each lasting 40-60 minutes) per person. Ohyeahs!! It was apparently a life-savior for me although 40 minutes is still damn difficult. T.T

Came home with a sore throat because we each conducted 4 interviews consecutively. It was close to 3h of non-stop talking and it was horrible. I was trying hard not to doze off / close my eyes because it will be rude, but some elderly just drone on and on and on, that was irrelevant to what I was interviewing for. T.T And I find it hard to cut in sighs. LOLOL Puke blood.

But they are really nice and warm elderly! They gave me a lot of advice (like how to get a good husband, see what I mean by totally irrelevant to my project?). And they are very cute to offer me ang ku kueh when we actually buy those for them. Hehehes. :D

Thanks the elderly for cooperating with us and providing so much insights (it is not easy to be interviewed for 40 minutes omg). Thanks to the center for offering help to us. Greatly appreciated. And thanks Dewei for taking the initiative to help contact them. Hehehes. (:

(Salad, the sauce is really good!)

(Humongous portion of meatball baked rice)

Headed to Saizeriya Italian Restaurant for lunch with Dewei and Heidi @ City Square Mall. And wah, the food is cheap and good. Hahahahas, okay my baked rice is soso only, but Heidi said her spaghetti was mad good. There's a salad, my main course and free flow of drinks (including soft drinks and coffee) for $7.90 only, and the restaurant don't charge GST and Service Charge. Woohoo?! :D

Thursday. Friday.

I stayed at home to study because I am a good girl. Hahahahas. Why do I have 5 midterms while my friends only have 3 ._.

Saturday.

Went for my usual music lessons. Study. Watch television. Youtube. Ouch why my life like that no life one. Hahahahas!

Sunday.

Time well spent with the family! I went for my dental appointment but my dentist was late for an hour (again?!). Walao, super waste my time. It was not the first time, it was the fourth time it happened?! Talk about efficiency. Tsk.

Then headed to Jurong Point foodcourt for my usual Thai food. But apparently they changed the cook, and the food became unpalatable?! Walao, where's my cheap and good Thai food!? Arghs. Went home lugging bags after bags of NTUC goods. #happygirl96 because more food. :DD

My recess week is meaningful enough I guess. T.T Even though it sounded abit no life, but what to do? Life of an undergraduate. How I wish recess week was longer x.x

I promise you, these storms are only trying to wash you clean.

(Ripped from Tumblr)

The universe doesn't make mistakes.

"Everything is happening just as it should. It's only our perception of difficulties that causes us the distress and difficulty we experience. Not only that, but when we label events as 'bad', we fail to perceive the benefit that is waiting for us."

You're my kind of favourite.

Days out with my favourite humans. :D

(Dinner date with Huiqi)

Hahahahas, met this babe at Jurong East on Thursday night because we wanna get our Milk and Honey fix for dessert. :D It is always a joy to meetup with her because I can complain to her freely (she doesn't know my friends / tutors / professors in NUS LOL), oops! Even though she always give me the wrong advice (like how I should go Engineering instead, but later regret advising me that because a smart person likes her agreed that it was damn hard ._.) ...

Headed to DTF for dinner, woohoo! Even though the bill amounted to $20, but ohwell, since I didnt spent much the other days. x.x

(Cravings satisfied)

(Before: fried rice)

(After: fried rice)

Huiqi's innovative way of budgeting: ordering a plate of fried rice + a plain of fried rice with pork. Because they have hugeass portions for the pork and we can share and save some $$$. Hehehes. (:

(Milk and Honey: Honey Velvet)

This is my first time trying, was excited initially because Huiqi was so enthusiastic about it. Hahahahas! But maybe that raised my expectations, and as I was discussing with Manda, this is a phenomenon of regression fallacy. Hahahahas, I finally found something that I can apply to real life from the shit that I learnt in school. LOLOL! :D I prefer llao llao though.

---

Friday's date with the burden Manda.

(Macs breakfast)

Yes, that's the perks of having a 8am class because you end lessons 45 minutes later and you don't feel like mugging anywhere. Hahas! Had a craving for Macs hotcakes a few days ago, so #happykid96! Cravings satisfied. :D

Finally caught the movie Deadpool because it was the top leading topic that everyone was talking about (okay, too exaggerated LOL). In addition, Hexuan was strongly recommending me to watch the movie despite the constant emphasis on the M18. LOLOL!! And the triggering factor should be my NM2101 tutor? Because the topic of our tutorial was on movie, and she was going on and on about Deadpool. x.x

(Ripped from imbd)

That moment when they stared at your student card for damn long when you wanted to buy tickets for the M18 movie. That moment when you are about to enter the theatre and the person stopped you and asked for your year of birth before confirming your entry into the theatre. T.T Ahhh, am I a kid?!

But the movie was real damn good, go watch everybardy! 'Twas a happy day.

If your world falls apart,
I'd start a riot.
If night falls in your heart,

I'd light the fire.
In the dark, when you sound the alarm,
We'll find each other's arms.
For your love, all you are
I'd start a riot.

People are like music. Some speak truth, others are just noise.

Just a short post today because there's so many things that are waiting for me to complete, but I needed a breather. Sighs. Sad life. :3 Outings with family are always the best because I don't have to bring my wallet out. LOLOL! :D Last weekend's tea at Imperial Treasure Noodle House eatery at Midview City, Sin Ming Lane. What a ulu place. T.T

(Polo buns)

(Thick toasts that are surprising delicious)

The lighting is good. The food is good. The atmosphere is good. The company is good. Yanqi is good. LOLOL! :D My dream is to explore and eat all the interesting food without having to pay for them. #fathopeyanqi Well, one can always dream...

Speaking of dreams, I was telling Hexuan just now about my dreams of being a career woman earning tons of money, and then I would buy either a 5-room-flat or an executive condo. After which, I would buy a car with my future husband where I am not so evil so I shall pay 30% of the loan while he pay the rest. It is just a simple life that every woman yearns, yeahs? But that stupid Hexuan had to come and crush my dreams and tell me to stop dreaming and go study. .____. Seriously.

(Cheap oreo Bingsu)

By the way, last week I found this Bingsu shop with my sister. I temporarily forgot the name of the shop. Oops. But it was located at the JAvenue @ JCube. The bingsu only costs $6.80, and it is approximately the same size as the bingsus sold at O'ma Spoon etc, so it is quite worth it? But of course, the quality differs quite a bit. You pay for what you get. But sometimes, one just feel like munching ice, so ... Save money for rainy days maybe? :DDD

Help me, I'm holding onto dear life,
Won't look down, won't open my eyes.
Keep my glass full until morning light,
'Cause I'm just holding on for tonight.

Because a sunset is proof that endings can often be beautiful too.

Incomplete.

(Ripped from seasonofmyheart.tumblr.com)

She passes the city,
wandering down each dark, forgotten street.
Not a lamp in sight is lighted.
In front of her, darkness breathe.

She stops. She blinks.
The sounds of love coming closer to her.
Getting louder and louder.
Her heart thumps faster.

She peers closer,
and sees souls in pairs.
Hand in hand,
Taking in the joy of loving once again.

The sounds of laughters,
Send a chill down her spine,
Send an ache down her heart.
The world is red, but she is green.

The silence in her is getting louder,
on the verge of exploding.
Silhouettes drift from wall to wall.
But they are not stopping for her.

She inhales the toxic.
She is wavering.

Can somebody teach her
how to love with her heart
and not her mind?

The stars in the night sky are human souls shinning down on us.

Happy CNY guys! No ootd or something to show because it's complicated. >.< But still, I am thankful for the 4 days break (albeit a rather short one, but CFG taught us to be thankful for everything LOL) T.T

(Breakfast)

Met up with burden L for a quick breakfast at Bukit Timah on Tuesday. I wanted to get him a cake to celebrate his birthday initially, but I didn't in the end sighs. You tell me who sell cakes at 9.30am at Bukit Timah -.- LOL, I still like the gift that I got him. I asked my sister for opinion on which design to get him, but in the end I sticked to my favourite design, and my sister went "Walao, buy for people or buy for yourself!?" Oops, sorry. But that's me. Hahahahas! :D

Thanks for the great time, and I had a great laugh because he was criticising everything as always. The waiting time for the food was super slow, but the taste was alright. It was quite scorching hot and I was sweating like a pig. But it was fine, because we just ate and go. :D Can't wait for him to faster return back from SEP!

By the way, I would like to emphasise that milo dinosaur are for all ages okay! (
That look he shot me when I pointed to the drink in the menu LOL!)

Was dreading to head back to school today (because it was seminar day and I had a make-up tutorial wtf). However, fortunately the day turned out to be great! I enjoyed myself thoroughly during CFG because I 'changed' groups, and my new 'groupmates' are super hilarious I cannot. We discussed all the most irrelevant topics possible during the small group discussions, and we ended up with way too crappy answers for our own good. But it was hilarious. Hahahahahas! I hope the next CFG seminar will be as fantastic as this!

Walked in the lecture theater for NM2104 lecture and spotted Dewei with a cap from far. We talked abit and wts, I realised I am with insanely smart people (again). He was a double degree student okay, dang. -.- That inferiority in me hahahas. But lecture was boring (no more breaks) and we were rotting inside arghs.

Had a good 4h+ break before I headed for NM2104 make-up tutorial. The tutor was being very disgusting because she refused to let us off until we submitted our concept map (but my group was so lagged and we haven't completed last week's literature review, how to do concept map omg). T.T We crapped out in the end, and LOL -.- I think the tutor will be sending us a warning soon hahahahas. Jiayous Dewei, everything is on you. LOLOL.

Met my GER groupmates at 7pm for project meeting, and I swear Jinjie and Ben are the most hilarious bunch of people ever. They made me laughed till I think I grew abs omg. Mad hilarious, I cannot, and this is only like the second time we met. Cheers for good team dynamics? I hope it last! Hahahahas!

P.S. This is the first time I find Wednesdays so comforting.

And the oh, oh, oh's
They haunt me like ghosts
They want me to make 'em all
They won't let go.

Sunday, February 7, 2016

Always remember who was there for you when no one else was.

I think starting from this semester, I maintained a lot. I learnt to say "no" when people ask me to go out for lunch / dinners / shopping or whatsoever. And I learnt that by rejecting people, I got more free time for myself. I stopped feeling as lethargic as before, and I guess my mood improved a lot. :DDD Cheers to a happier yanqi!

But even so, I still got a life luh. Hahahahas! :D Met my O'weekers Minghan and Chenhui for lunch on Monday (travelled from Science to Arts for them, see how great I am as a friend LOL). Felt glad to connect with them again, and relieve our siao-onz moments. LOL, Chenhui got so excited for god know what reason, and he spilled his coffee on me ._. Thankgawd his hot coffee already turned cold, and I wasn't scalded and/or disfigured. Hahahahas! I switched place, and after which, it was Minghan's turn to get excited and he knocked down his empty cup of fruit juice in my direction. Thank goodness it was empty?! I cannot deal with both coffee and fruit juice stains on the same day. I'm feeling damn sticky and I was afraid ants will crawl on me or something LOLOL! #Ithinktoomuch Guys are all so annoying. What a sweeping statement but I don't care :D

(With my lovely girls)

Wednesday was my most dreaded day of the week. I hate attending seminars because I don't like to speak up (sighs), but the CFG seminar was pretty alright that day because we spent most of the time playing a game, and although it was a freaking lame game, but because of my super enthusiastic group members, it brought out the competitive side of me, and LOL I wanted to win so badly. But LOL, we eventually won. :DDD Yes baby! Time passed quickly (for once).

So glad for Gwenda who accompanied me from YIH to Utown for the next lecture although her next lesson is at Arts. Hahahas, it was super fortunate that things were not awkward with us even though the last time we interacted was during primary school?! :D YAY! From my experience from both semesters 1 and 2, I learnt that attending lectures/tutorials alone are fine, because when you're alone, you will tend to make more friends / find some long-lost friends. Hence, we can widen social circle more easily? LOLOL!

NM2104 lecture was quite slack and the professor finally gave us a break (or rather, self-declared break). Hahahas, he made us go out of the lecture theater to do observation (it was a research module whereby we need to do ethnography). So Dewei suggested to grab a cup of coffee while we do our 'observation' in the foodcourt wts. LOL, in the end we crapped out a whole load of observations that we imagined in a typical food court scene. So glad that the other 2 groupmates decided to pon the lecture, because I am not comfortable with them. :3 Hahahas.

Lessons finally ended and I travelled to Science for the long-awaited meetup with Amanda and Christel at Platypus. I was grateful that the AJ-NUS friends are still keeping in contact with one another (most of my classmates are in NTU wts). More gossip sessions please, and see y'all soon. Hehehes, :DDD

They accompanied me to the Science library (because I secretly think that Christel was sure that I will get lost if she just gave me directions without showing me the way LOL). Studied for a little while before I headed to Jurong Point to meet Weina to grab birthday presents for Eve. I swear that helium balloons are really a bother when travelling on public transport, particularly during peak hours. x.x

Went Jurong East's 鲜得来 for steamboat feast with le JC clique. I feel that it was a tad too expensive (it costed $18 for an individual hotpot, including GST and service charge), and the portions are mini. Yes, you heard me right. Mini. I wasn't full. I think L was right when he said my stomach was a bottomless pit geeez. It was my virgin experience here, but I think that there was nothing special T.T Don't think I will be heading back here soon.

(It really looked a potty LOL)

(Finally attendance 5/5)

I have no idea why our clique photo always look disastrous, especially my face. T.T But happy 20th birthday Eve! Love y'guys truckloads.

People come and go,
But life is simply about seeing
Who cares enough to stay.

Lost in the memory as it shakes up the corners of my heart.

(Ripped from worldartsme.com)

I figured I should document my entire learning-how-to-drive process because it is one of my major achievements in life. To be honest, I feel that trying to pass all the tests and attain a certified driving license is harder than trying to attain great grades for my exams. LOLOL! :3

So on (February 15, 2015) I went to enroll myself in the Bukit Batok Driving Center (BBDC). Many of my peers are already preparing / passed their Basic Theory Test (BTT), so I'm lagging behind quite a bit. Initially, I wanted to find someone to accompany me (y'know how dependent I am on people LOL), and I did found one who enrolled around the same time as me. However, fortunately, I decided to go alone because she was procrastinating much (and I want to faster get it over and done with). :P But okay, I ended up getting my license only one year later. LOLOL! x.x (But my friend has not even went for practical lessons yet, so ...)

I took 3A (auto) because it is much easier to learn as opposed to manual, and besides, many cars are also auto now, so I don't want to put myself through all the troubles to learn manual LOLOL.

So in BBDC, it is kind of troublesome. You have to go by this sequence:
Basic Theory Lessons & Practice
Basic Theory Evaluation (BTE)
Basic Theory Test (BTT)

The lessons are compulsory (there are 2 lessons for Basic Theory and another 2 for Final Theory). Then you can choose whether to attend the Basic Theory Practices anot, but you will have to pass BTE first before you can book for your BTT. Same goes for the Final Theory Test (FTT). So a word of advice here: faster get down to study and quickly pass your BTE first, because the typical waiting time for the BTT is approximately 2 months from the day you booked (damn annoying).

Timeline of my learning process:
March - all 4 theory lessons (1 lesson/week)
April - Study the BTT Guidebook, BTP and passed the BTE on the same day
May - painful waiting
June - Passed BTT with 50/50 on first try
JulyFTP and passed FTE on the same day
August - Passed FTT (50/50 again) on first try
September - December - Practical driving lessons
January - Attended Revision Lessons, before passing my Practical Test on first try!

One can actually take FTT and practical driving lessons simultaneously. However, because I have no clue about my university timetable, so I didn't dare to book any lessons (I realised I can actually sell the slots, so I should just book first LOL stupid me). And I only attend maximum 2 lessons per week (during weekends LOL) because I had yet to learn how to cope effectively with schoolwork. :/

I took 32 lessons in total (super, super slow I know), with 27 of the lessons learning and attempting to pass my evaluation test, and the rest of the 5 lessons for revision (I kiasu, average people only took 2 revision lessons LOL). But hehes, despite taking more lessons, I managed to meet my expectations of passing on the first attempt, so yay! :DDD

Update: I finally got my driving licence today via the mail!

(Ripped from pinterest.com)

So is yanqi a big girl now? Hahahas!

You're the Earth I will stand upon.
You're the words I will sing.
